It never paid enough to bother about that. They also tended to respawn full health and shields.

Yeah, that last bit I'm worried about. But if they respawn in the damaged state, then the mission is not bugged or impossible to complete. Just poorly balanced effort vs reward, also the user is not using the right equipment for the mission.
