Just a heads up... People are reporting that the Rift runs fine if you launch ED via the VRlauncher :)

anyone try direct mode yet? Like, maybe the driver somehow fixes all the direct mode issues while breaking extended mode?

yeah its like a virtual desktop app... dont have it installed on this new rig so havent tested it ...

on the oculus rift forums the community manager has posted saying they are in contact with nvidia but for now extended mode is broken accross the board, either use direct mode or role back drivers.

i imagine it will be fixed soon.

Thanks to everyone here for posting this info, i was going to install the new driver today but thanks to the help in this post i will now wait.

The new compatibility driver spoils 3Dvision for me, dont get me wrong it works, but before the new driver the 3d was popping out of my screen, could almost touch the visuals in front of me, the only problem i had was some planets and the sun had a weird dark line texture in the center, hard to explain, looked awful. The compatibility driver sorts this out but the 3d looks very flat, its not popping out of my screen anymore, its just like a 2d image with slightly more depth, i tried fiddling with setting such as depth, convergence, but its all flat looking, so i went back to the original profile by clicking CTRL+ALT+F11 to flip through compatibility modes at the cost of stars / suns looking weird with a dark blobby line down the center..
If anyone has any ideas please share :D

I was able to get the beta drivers working just fine, but you have to mess with the Primary monitor selector in Windows (On Desktop, Right Click/Screen Resolution/Pick whatever isn't your primary monitor and check "Make this my main display") and then in Elite (Switching between Primary/Secondary/etc) to get it to work. When you launch Elite on Say your monitor and it is double sided, then in elite, switch to your rift monitor in the Graphics options, it then goes to normal VR and everything is like it should be. Id say even with 1 monitor and the rift (I have 2 monitors + rift) this should work, it just takes some fiddling.

It has been a few weeks since I played ED in the Beta, but with SLI 780's and my 3930K, Performance remains around 70+ FPS and the Planets all look correct with SLI on at any distance. The game looks and runs great.

Is there another Brand NEW new Nvidia patch fixing Ed for us DKers?

hello everyone, I just read on some post hear that there was a new NVIDIA patch that released yesterday or something close to that which actually does fix the problems from the other recent Nvidia patch that messed things up with elite dangerous.

Any thoughts on this? Is there a new patch out there that actually remedies many of the problems we are all having?

Thanks!

PS - I use Android voice to text so please disregard the misspellings of here above and incorrect usage I tried going back to remedy the grammar but it was tough on my phone and so I'm even sticking with voice for this part. Thanks for understanding

Not aware of any new patch, but an easy remedy is to just rollback to the 344.75 drivers. I did that yesterday after messing around with the "changing primary display fix" for a while. They work great, and I don't notice any difference in performance (I'm steady at 75 fps though, so the actual performance may be better. I haven't measured it.)

Sure i rolled back to 344.75 to from the new 347... version. I wanted Elite to work with DK2, so that's the way to go at the moment. I've read somewhere something about that Elite developers and Nvidia are aware of this problem and trying to look into it.
And - it's not like every newest driver will bring your graphic card to new heights and performances. Sometimes there are just little things or just special things that get fixed or implemented, optimised, whatever. But that doesn't mean, you will notice it right that same moment. PCs can be quite complex in reaction, depending on the overall sytem and hardware components working together. When there are people noticing something better running or working on their system, doesn't mean, it will be the same for other PC owners.
Example: one system can run a game or program without problems after a new patch gets released - another system crashes the game or program after installing the exact same patch - you read this all the time at game releases, patches and so on.

So - the next newest driver doesn't have to be the best for your system or your game, because it's newer then the old.
I for myself usually wait for another two or three versions later, where it's established, those are working properly ... sure i've tried my luck with version 347... but it didn't work with Elite and DK2 - so back to 344.75 .

Nvidia Surround and monitor bezels

I've been playing with a 3 monitor setup which is fantastic, but some of the UI is very difficult to use because it spans monitor bezels. The in game HUD UI is fine with some FOV tweaks, but the galaxy map and main menus are split by the left bezel seam. It's extremely difficult to use. My screen resolution is 4800x1600 due and my monitors are 16:10. Anyone know if there's a way to deal with this or if it's something on FD's development radar? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
