The Road to Exobiology Elite V

[from the linked article]
Aftermath: After getting to Exo Elite V, the itch started again… What about all five Elite V… and another challenge was on.
There are six ;) :devilish:

(Of course, Frontier adding CQC Elite V with the same thresholds was downright cruel, so it's entirely understandable that people would pass on it)

At the same time, demonstrating a certain level of unawareness for what it takes to reach even Elite at CQC... They could at least have done like for Exobiology, where higher levels are roughly half the work of Elite

I had a similar plan to grind out plain Elite in xenobiology with a few minor differences which might help peple be more efficient:

I searched for Stratums Tectonicas by looking for high metal content worlds with atmospheres within a temperature range that weren't too far away from the primary star, also favoring binaries and systems with more than one planet with potential stratums.
Then I clustered the results to 15-20 systems that are near each other which I could scan in an evening without having to spend time refueling other than to get there and back from the bubble.

Once I did the math on how long and how many stratums it would take I knew I would only be going for Elite and not Elite V on this.

I only did this after the noverly of exploring for xenobiology normally wore off though,

Main differences were that I plotted a route through the systems, for efficiency, and I knew which systems and often bodies had tectonicas and other high-value bios, I wasn't searching for potential sites. And of course I did it at an industrial scale...

A few months ago, I managed to reach Elite V in Exobiology, and in the process became the first CMDR (on Inara) to do so.

I finally had some time to put together a few notes it, and the Canonn Research Group was kind enough to publish them. As they might be useful for other CMDRs thinking about the grind, here they are: https://canonn.science/codex/the-road-to-exobiology-elite-v/
Awesome achievement - bravo!

OK I give up, where's this advanced search on EDSM for bodies with Stratum Tectonicas?

I think the with my criteria I got a pretty good hit-rate of like 95% of actually finding them (including the stratums that were at the time bugged and unscannable). And the first discovery bonuses helped cut down the grind.

I plotted a route through the clustered systems too, the difference between that and plotting the whole thing is that I tried to do only the fuel-efficient parts without going too far out of the bubble for too long.

I think it's under system search, by codex entry.

Congratulations! That's quite an achievement!

I'd rather get to Elite V in combat with a stock Sidewinder than going beyond Elite in Exobiology as it is now. 😅
