I've broken your rules dozens of times, every time I've moved up a ship in fact. I take a chance to improve my profits and don't cry about it if I fail - it's worked for me so far.

Do not boost while landing at a docking pad
Do not boost while exiting the station without having checked there isn't a T9 wedged in the slot first
When interdicted at a star while scooping, ignore the escape vector and pull back so that the star is behind you ;)

I'm glad you are!

Would be fun (for this thread) if in 6 months some freak accident puts you back into a sidewinder from your 500 mill Anaconda, and you come find this thread and comment in it.

To be clear - I'm not wishing that fate upon you! Just saying it would be interesting reading :)

Must agree with your second point although for me the T9 just appeared from the left as I was exiting in my T9. I hit him and destroyed him probably because my shields were better - but left me with no shields and 12% hull and a 1.8M repair bill.

Won't happen. In this last case (from my current T9) I will grind the Conda and the insurance before I swap, it is just too expensive and too many hours wasted to fall at the last hurdle. You have to do the cost v benefit and at this late stage the costs far outweigh any remaining advantage.

Ask for permission before carefully inserting yourself into the tight gap, if you have doubts on your abilities, ensure you have a shield.

Station penetration should be consensual, safe, and if in any doubt, use protection!

Rules:

1. Ensure that you are in an overly expensive ship that you cannot afford to maintain
2. Try not to crash the ship... if you do:
-2a. Come to forums to complain
-2b. Request refund
3. Blame the game for not paying your bounty for you
4. Shoot as many clean ships as possible and always attack the authority vessels
5. Never... and I repeat... NEVER have enough credits to cover the insurance cost of your ship(s)
6. Always attack the bigger ships with your basic loaner lasers
7. Don't ask for permission to dock. You don't need permission.

Sorry, was this thread serious? :D

I posted this in some other thread in response to someone who wanted the rules but here we go again:

If it isn't yours you can't have it.

If it isn't a criminal you can't shoot it.

Wrong
.
The rules of Elite Dangerous are
.
Always be comfortable with any risk you take
.
Shooting when police are around - risk
Launching without insurance - risk
approaching a station in supercruise from the rear - risk
Flying in popular systems - risk
approaching a station whilst wanted - risk
Flying without shields - risk
Just one more ship when you have 100k of bounties to collect and your targeted ship is a python -risk
that 3rd JD and coke - risk

if you take a risk accepted the consequences

I agree. I've even totalled a ship yesterday because I decided to run without shields to squeeze in an extra 8 tonnes of cargo, and "bumped" the docking port :)
Can't complain, I knew what I was doing and why.
