Sphagnum moss. Naturally antibacterial, excellent wound dressing, dry it for kindling and soft on your bum when the bog paper runs out.
Plenty of that up here too...I take it you did the Nordic winter survival tour with the Sami folks as well? I discovered during it...I never really did like reindeer much to begin with :D

Loved the arctic survival thing we did with the Inuit though...those folks are pretty awesome. Desert survival with the Bushmen in the Kalahari was pretty good too, another group of humans with a set of skills and knowledge long since dead.

Tiny update: Belgium 'only' had eight confirmed deaths the past 24 hours. I suspect it is a statistical anomaly, ICU is rapidly filling up all the same. Sadly enough, one of the eight casualties was a 39-year old man with a four-month old baby. Started to feel flu'ish last week, joked with mates it might be corona. Situation rapidly declined in the last 24 hours, he was put in ICU but died hours later. No known pre-existing conditions.
Ah jeez, that's some bad news right there. Something is starting to make me wonder if we don't even have the proper language to identify all the common denominators and underlying causes.

Nah, that's just an ego thing, who cares. Music is music!
Can you do an Hawaiian ' Always look on the brightside of life' ?☺

Haha, an Hawaian version of a Monty Python song is just what the world needs. :p Seriously though, I have an EP coming out April 1st. This was all wrapped-up and moved through the pipelines end of 2019, when I was under the assumption April 2020 would be a relatively calm and uneventful time of the year. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20... :p

Let me know where to get it . Am looking for a birthday present for my daughter . Yes, she is an April's Fool...:D .

Never did the arctic stuff, I applied a few times but always managed to time it with annoying a bigwig (I used to drink more than is advisable ).

I was an instructor in other areas though and my expertise is geographically right where I am right now, which could be handy.

This is really sad, but I truly hope it's just part of 0.2% statistics and not a larger scale development
Maybe he had some undiscovered condition or sadly, an unusually weak immune system
IIrc i've seen an article reporting a 16 yo dead about 1 week ago. Think it was in France...
Truly regretable :(

One week ago our press reported the case of a 4 yo with autoimmune disease that suffered a transplant 3 years ago.
His father took him to Rome at the beginning of March for medical checkup related to his medical condition.
When they returned, they were placed in isolation, then confirmed Covid on 14th march, then hospitalized.
Reportedly they are fine, only easy symptoms on both father and son

Just hearing that Orkney has went from restricted access to fully closing it's ferry and air travel to non residents...they're turning away camper vans and general wannabe self isolators at mainland ferry and airports and only allowing restricted travel for island residents and delivery drivers...that even excludes the holiday home owners who don't live here year round. Seemingly, there's some sort of mini exodus going on and folks want to be where we are....not any more unless you actually live here.

We still have zero cases of Covid-19 in the entire island chain.

That's a really good idea, the holiday home owners have all turned up in Wales and Scotland and are snowing under the GP's with their entitled posh persons demands that they be immediately registered as patients there.

They are being told to contact their existing GP's where they actually live.

Oh up for that! What you got on there? Classical, 70s, sea shanties, some metal? Synth pop, Arabic, New Age, Punk?
I Love Music.
Availability?
☺☺☺

Tis a bit much - piling into those areas potentially bring infection and putting extra pressure on local shops (for local people) and services..

According to some folks I know who live in the highlands, these holiday home owners on the mainland are also attempting to clear out the local shops by needlessly stockpiling supplies...our local shop owner on the island has also stated on the island Facebook page that temporary incomers...not that there are any that I've noticed to date (there are roughly 400 of us on here)...will be refused service if they are non residents.

Good luck to any of them that do appear and try to argue the point...there are a lot of very large farmers and fishermen who live here who'll willingly show them the error of their ways.

In the United States, while some are lining up in front of supermarkets to stock food, others are waiting in front of armories, like here in Culver City, California. Gun buyers fear the consequences of the epidemic: they may have to defend themselves against people who are won over by the fear of being contaminated.

Terrible image that announces nothing good here for the future. :(

Didn't you know? You can eat gunpowder. It's very healthy these days. It also won't spoil like nasty old food does!

You should refuse to sell them food and charge them an extortionate amount of toilet paper to leave the island :D.

That's exactly what she wrote in her facebook post...no food, fuel or supplies. We only have 2 shops on the island anyway...both of them have said exactly the same.

Think I'll make up some home made claymores for the drive...I have plenty of old icecream tubs and a supply of useful chemicals in the shed ;)
Saying that..there's little chance of random asylum seekers appearing here anyway..not only can they not get a ferry to the main island...we're also separated from there by another 2 hour ferry trip with a local crew who know all the locals by name :)
