Dilution effect?

The global cases/day is increasing. However the deaths/day has been declining. We have had no real treatment breakthroughs. So, how come? Miscounting? Reclassification of the causes of death? Greater spread through the young?

This might be due to expanded domains for less lethal strains, suggesting the virus is adapting to the new human host. Can we be optimistic about this?

We need to look at the dominant strains and do RNA coding to see if less lethal versions are diluting the bad ones. That's really good if it is happening, because the world needs a break so badly now. Widespread infection with low lethality strains could bring this to a close ahead of the modelled predictions.

No matter how desperately Leper Messiah tries to deflect by talking about literally anything else he can think of, institutional racism is a serious issue in our culture. The adult thing to do is to own up to it, admit fixing this has been long overdue, and then think constructively on what serious and viable solutions would look like.

Utter pish.

On aging. The thumbnail may look rather tabloid-y...but ColdFusion makes really good content .

nice animations!
This pandemic caused me to read up on how viruses and our immune systems work, and it’s amazing!
The way we can use these systems to our ends, CRISPR and CAS9 to edit our genes is the stuff of Sci fi!
For those that can afford it, editing your own dna will probably create a new class of human.

Consider that, when stuff like that gets into the public domain...it has probably been known and worked with for a decade or more already XD .

I have a nuclear submarine base 35 miles from me so its a small comfort to know that when stuff kicks off i'll be one of the first to be vaporized into a mushroom cloud.
I have four primary targets around me that both Russia and China will hit. A US military major command headquarters, the road and rail crossings across the Mississippi, Lambert Field, 2nd largest fighter production line in the US, and a major field, and the oil refineries at Wood river- there goes 15% of the US refining capacity.

Parrish the thought!

Sometimes the Fermi Paradox solution of the Great Filter seems to be pretty likely....
Edit:
In the mean time, try to make the world a better place, but don’t forget to have some fun and enjoy life!
I was out and about today, it was pretty miserable weather, quite a few places were open selling coffee and food from counters in doorways - it reminded me a little bit like a crap music festival! We had fun feeding a few chips to the seaguls.
Am missing festivals though :-(

Normally around about now, I’d be starting to feel the anticipation of Glastonbury music festival. I would have been putting finishing touches to some visual effects and figuring out what to take, damn. I really struggle to figure out when and if a music festival will ever be the same. Will everyone have antibody cards to show who’s had it?
I think we’re going to go down to 1m distance to help the hospitality economy soon but will we have to lockdown again if we come out too early?

Btw, for those still believing all these protests are about a recent issue: this is how the US police responded in 1985 to a stand-off at a house with armed members of the 'black liberation' movement called MOVE in Philadelphia:

They bombed it. They bombed a residential area. It resulted in the burning down of sixty five houses. We have pictures of such scenes in the Netherland too, but they are from a few decades earlier...

No idea but they're calling it a support bubble so might require some oxygen.

Its honestly kinda cute though. A few years ago a book was published in the Netherlands after many, many years of research, called 'Here come the Soviets!". It details the secret plans of the Dutch government regarding how to deal with a soviet attack during the cold war. These plans started during the early 50s. Small lists of potential nuclear strike targets were made, and plans were created on how to deal with such events. This slowly evolved until, in the early 80s, we had detailed plans on how to deal with the Soviet Union launching over a thousand nuclear missiles at our puny country.

We had a plan to send all ships on our rivers to England to make sure the advancing soviet army wouldn't win the war by capturing small trading vessels. After someone noticed these ships cannot cross seas and are for small waters only, we send an official but secret message to the UK government requesting them to form a secret rescue squad to come rescue a few dozen dutch sailors if the Soviet Union would launch 1000+ nukes at us. We even had a secret undercover brigade of 'coffee ladies' who would, when the attack started would rush to safety in nuclear shelters. Their secret agenda was to wait for the attack to pass, and then rush out before anyone else to make coffee for the men that would rebuild our culture.

Absolutely none of it has anything to do with any possible reality whatsoever. But by Jove did they try! :D
