the sagan voyager 1041 V2

Time to start my 2nd long range expedition. I've spent 6 months in the bubble having fun and grinding engineers. I worked really hard on my ship.

But now its time to get back to what I love best.

I'll just leave this here. This will be a long long trip. I'll update this thread as I go.

Got lots to do:)

I would strongly advise you to reconsider that mod on the scoop. Increased power draw is the last thing you want on an exploration ship. I think some comedy guy at FDev made that mod to troll explorers. :)

Thanks but when I have just about everything turned off I'm running at 56% usage. So its really not an issue. In fact I still have my shields up and was happily jumping and scooping along without any issues.

Totally agree. As far as I can tell, the increased integrity doesn't do anything for you, since you're not getting shot at. Module damage is mostly proportional when taking heat damage, or getting forced out of supercruise by hitting an exclusion zone. So the added power draw just means more heat. Overall this isn't a big deal though. I wouldn't go back to change it if you've already launched.

Otherwise it all looks great!

And BTW, I totally approve of the color choice. :)

hmmm gotcha. more heat... well i'm not too far out. I'll jump back real quick and ditch the mod.
Thanks guys.

The only theoretical advantage I can come up with for it would be better FSD longevity when charging long jumps in a neutron or white dwarf cone. It's a very unlikely bonus, though, only based on the fact that we need fuel scoops to be able to scoop the FSD boost. But even then, that improvement would have to be massive in order for it to be useful. Having to repair every 20th jump or 40th jump makes little difference as the AFMU's are weightless.

I've gotta say, I'm kinda curious. You've traveled more than 500 kly and you're calling this your second long trip. How far do you think you'll go this time?

Enjoy the trip, commander. :)

The 1st trip was 18 months. I'm gonna try 3 years this time.
However I will likely get a second account to play around in the bubble from time to time.

I quickly went back to port to remove the fuel scoop mod as was suggested above. I was able to do this and stay in my launch window.

I am also in the black, looking for first discoveries to add to my growing list, have no where near the numbers you posted, at least, not on this second account. Have just over 3 weeks game time on this second account and have amassed over 10k first discoveries so far. Bought the account solely for exploring, and didn't think it all the way thru when I 'named' the account. So before I made my first "first" discovery with the account, I petitioned f-dev to change the name of the commander to the same as my first account, albeit, a slight change in the letters, like using 2 "V's" for the second W, that way, all the first discoveries made will sport the same name, or at least it will look the same at first glance. There are a couple hundred systems out there that I had partially scanned on the first account, and went back thru a year later on the second account and finished scanning the whole system, so they have two different spellings on the discovered by, but the same name.

Currently on my first trip to Beagle, but ain't making much headway initially, in 2 weeks since I started am only 14k lys from the bubble, been scanning all the nebulas I come across and it takes time to find 'firsts' in the Nebula regions, so spend a few days til I find several systems that are undiscovered and then move on to the next one. I'll eventually get there though, I aint in a hurry. Gotta swing by Colonia region first to sell what data I've collected so far and update my spread sheet with all the first discoveries so far, with this batch I haven't turned in yet will put me over the 50k mark, still gotta bunch to find to reach the Mil mark though.

Good luck Cmdr .

i have just got back to the bubble to upgrade my ship then am planning to head towards the rift [up]

January database (Captain's Log) estimate = 395,018,466 credits.

I've been requested to alter my mission objective from Universal Cartographics & my main sponsors.
They are requesting data for certain highly sensitive system types.
I cannot go into detail as to what they want specifically. However I think I see why they want it.
It will be difficult to supply them this information / and it is my choice to even do so or not.
I could face ramifications if I don't comply.
I'll have to think it over.

I've decided to follow orders and reported info on several ELW's close to the bubble to aid in the Thargoid threat.

ELW's = 52 (41 undiscovered)
Bucket list items checked off = 45

I'm currently exploring a small cluster of Type O / B and A stars. Many with Neutron stars and Black holes mixed in. Had a few scary jump in's but
my ship is in fine shape, 100% across the board.
Having a grand time.
