The SCB (Shield Cell Bank) Thread

For me it is dreadful. I am not really a PVP player but I like PVE. I just loved flying in conflict zones but now if 5 ships attack me which happens if you are not careful and fly into a wrong place, they can take down your shields and then your hull pretty quick. The only way for me to escape in the emergency situation is to launch SCB but now it overheats the ship so much that It damages my ship. And let's just say that you are still fighting in the conflict zone, I attack a ship and at the same time 2 others are attacking me. I use my chaff but it is only temporary cause another chaff loads very slow. So to counter those 2 ships that I can't attack cause my attention is on the other ship, i used SCB to counter them. And to be honest with the old configuration of SCB Heat system when I attacked anaconda or let's say a python ship in CF If I was not careful about my SCB deployment this ship could take my shields down so I was either forced to fight or escape. Sometimes with slower ships like python I was not able to escape a good couple of times. Ok I can agree that for PVP this change can make sense I see that. But I am not a PVP player and fighting in conflict zones that I loved is absolutely destroyed now.

So now it is like this:
- I can do 500k with trading, and this is a very safe way of making money. No big deal
- I can barely do 150k in conflict zones cause my shields go down very fast and I can't counter ships that I can't attack at the moment for some reason. Using SCB is very risky, they might be boosted but they damage my ship too much.
- Previously I could seat for a while and actually make some money in CF. But if I made mistakes cause I was too greedy or something, my shields even with SCB could be taken down easily. Using SCB in wrong time could be deadly and It was deadly for me many many times.

TLDR; So yeah PVP i understand the change. But at the same time you destroyed it for PVE players.
User error. Consider expanding the scope of your thought:
- Fit a second chaff launcher.
- Join a wing.
- Go to a less intense conflict zone.
- Use a more appropriate ship.

I liked your text, it was written honestly. Yes, Frontier did make some massive changes with the SCB and I didn't like it either at first. But now in PVP, when you are in a bigger ship with stronger SCB, your SCB are stronger and better now! But you have to use heat sinks and manage the perfect timing.

But now a comment about your thread - really, you think that it is OK for fly against 5 enemies ships and it should be so easy that you could drink some coffee/tea next by? Do you have kind of super-power in your ship or are you a AAA skilled pilot? I guess no, so the game is was and is far to easy with so weak and stupid NPC's. Everybody should be scared when a NPC Python or even gibber crosses your way, especially when the NPC pilot would be expert or even Elite ranked. The game is still called Elite "Dangerous"...

Use heat sinks for your SCB's - and you can still even combine them together - just take care of the timing. Check out Kornelius video for this:

Tbh I was surprised when a scb was about to toast my phyt at first. I am back to the game after a long pause and I love how FD is making it harder to fight even npcs. Finally I have to flee from the fight every now and then, finally it feels "dangerous" ;)

i want to find the npcs you guys are fighting. i dont even use SCB in my python. and if they manage to take my sheilds down. they bearly scratch the paint off my hull.

the only time i had to run yet was when that npc 1 shot the canopy of my asp out after it crashed in to me and took out my shields...

I'll start off by saying that the change for PvP is awesome. No longer can a Conda sit there and just spam SCBs as 1 or 2 ships attempt to whittle away its shields. Conda high wakes are my new cocaine.
.
As far as your post, Quantum.. CZs are war zones brah. If you're going in there alone then I hope you're getting ground up and spit back out. Go to a High Intensity or Hazardous RES where the credit per hour ratio is much higher than that of a CZ if money is all you're looking for. In a HAZ RES with my FDL or the Vulture I used to fly, being careful of which targets I engage while flying solo (A wing of Federal anything's is a royal pain to deal with now, which is good), I scrape out 3-4 million credits an hour just bounty hunting. That's without a KWS.
.
If you need an SCB, keep one fitted, but like Oogie Boogie said, you better pack a heat sync launcher in there as well to counter the massive amount of heat that an active SCB kicks off.

not to disappoint you but...

a conda can still stack 2 scb with one heat sink...

Just out of not so idle interest, what ship are you flying, and what class of Conflict zone were you flying in?
I just spent a thouroughly enjoyable 45 min in a high intensity zone, and sure, I was getting ganged up on, or jumped by federation corvettes while my back was turned, and it was glorious! Losing shields is not the end of the world, just finish the ship who is trying to kill you, back off a bit, and then dive right back in! Or make a tactical retreat to the nearest station to reload and repair your damage. I'm always earning more than what i'm losing, so what is the problem?
For reference, i'm flying an A-rated Federation Assault ship, with Bi-weave shields and a shield booster, plus a single SCB paired to a heatsink in a firing group. Pop the SCB also pops a heatsink, so no overheating unless the sink misfires, which it will occasionally do. Before this ship, I was flying a Vulture, and would be leery of entering a high intensity zone, because without shields, the vulture is easily dented. But for RES work it was perfect.
