It's a fair cop guv, innit. I popped over to Lembava tonight to "baseline A" outfit my Bask and I was reminded of all this talk of Open (where I have been since Gamma) being a desolate wasteland... can you spot the tumble-weed and hear the old church bell?

I think there is some shifty looking guy in a poncho on a donkey at the back there.

In short, where I am normally based is very quiet, but if I want to find people then I know where to go so even within Open there is choice.

and choice is good ^,^

MY pixels were all earned in Open so that makes them TWICE as valuable as Solo pixels - my mum says so, so ner!

No No No, Lol! your mum said!, my pixels are better than your pixels because "my dad said so" and my dad is bigger than your dad so double NER! (and I used CAPS so I am better then you, cos I did it first!:p).

And my mum said so too (and she earned all of my pixels for me, I just do the fun bits) so triple NER with a cherry on top! :p:):D

Well...I don't like anybody touching my pixels. You might think that I would be playing in solo but no...open play for me...so Neener Neener Neener!

I've seen, in Open and Group, that you get more CMDRs in a station instance. As soon as you get out to supercruise the numbers get more fragmented.

I did not know that. I haven't looked at how to take pictures of my ships yet

F10 for normal current rez screenshots
Alt + F10 for 4K screenshots, but the option is locked out of Open Mode as Robert said due to people cheating with it.

Or of course, there is Steam and F12 which then can be directly uploaded to the Steam Community and saved to your PC
(I use Steam F12 for most of my screenshots)

I have done the Alt+F10 - you get a lot of pixels there when running 1920x1080 trying to view a 4K picture.
Talk about zoomed in, lol.

Weeell they are a bit bigger than standart 4K screenshots... At least mine are 5464x3072..

Also elite on steam is abomination! Purge the heretic!

And if I go a few kylies from the bubble then I'm unlikely to see anyone, even in Open. My point was that [in Open] if you want to find people you can, if you want to avoid people you can. Simple choice once again.

Never really looked at the actual size - I don't have a 4k monitor, so it was more just a test if it would work or not.

As for Steam, it makes it handy to share information and friends / groups can view your games at any time (no twitch software needed).
Also, my friends on Steam can see what I'm playing without having to ask me (so I always throw games in to Steam).

That being said, I've started messing about with OBS and connected a FB page, YouTube and Twitch
( https://www.facebook.com/jockey.jo79?fref=nf )

So chances are, I'm going to load through the launcher not Steam in future (don't want tons of streams going out at the same time) so I can stream properly and not just to Steam.

Fair point, I wasn't intending to disagree with you, although I can see it came across like that. The point I think I was trying to make was that even in high traffic areas, the instancing islands seem to be more stable at the station, than out in SC. Almost as if the netcode handles increased numbers of CMDR in a single instance better where it is more of a fixed location? 3 or 4 "Star to Station" instances pipe into one "Station" instance...

This makes sense as the stations are fixed instances, while in SC you are an "island" (or bubble) moving about.
It is only if certain criteria are met will your bubble overlap another person's bubble and you see each other.
(criteria = ping times, distance apart, stability of the connection and match maker settings)

AFAIK, it's not 4K. It's 4x. As in, twice the horizontal and twice the vertical resolution, resulting in 4x more pixels. (And a big file size for an image, which is what was at the heart of the exploit.)

Are you running the game at 2732x1536? That would explain the size of your screenshots.

Here you go, 4K info.

http://www.techradar.com/news/television/ultra-hd-everything-you-need-to-know-about-4k-tv-1048954

Technically, "Ultra High Definition" is actually a derivation of the 4K digital cinema standard. However while your local multiplex shows images in native 4096 x 2160 4K resolution, the new Ultra HD consumer format has a slightly lower resolution of 3840 X 2160.

This is one reason why some brands prefer not to use the 4K label at all, sticking with Ultra HD or UHD instead. However, the numerical shorthand looks likely to stick. As a broad brush label it's so much snappier!

It is supposed to be 4096 x 2160, but just like everything in life - what is advertised and what we get are 2 different things.
As for 5464 - that sounds like multi monitor set up to me.
(I run 2 monitors)

nope its 1366*768 (using lap top at the moment) Screens were taken on here. you were actually right it is 4x but you miscalculated... Come to think of it, the screens i took back on 1080p were 7680 x 4320
