nope its 1366*768 (using lap top at the moment) Screens were taken on here. you were actually right it is 4x but you miscalculated... Come to think of it, the screens i took back on 1080p were 7680 x 4320

In which case it's actually 4x in each direction, for 16x more pixels. Sorry for the mix up.

Well...I don't like anybody touching my pixels. You might think that I would be playing in solo but no...open play for me...so Neener Neener Neener!

Well I'm going to be playing in DOUBLE Open, with my eyes closed and no keyboard and no HOTAS and no computer while juggling sharks who are themselves juggling radioactive chainsaws, and doing all this in BAGDHAD. So that means I should get a 5% bonus for being more DANGEROUS than you all are.

Cheers, Phos.

Wow, if they give me something for the time I spend in open I want to donate it to you ;):), unless someone goes bungee jumping without a bungee you have danger pretty much covered.

Actually I don't want any bonus, after 14 months I have an A rated Vulture & Type6 and a very average Python and I am enjoying every hour I get to spend getting her closer to A rated, its going to be a while but I really don't care if its a month or three.

Anyway gotta run, I want to find a Hires and see if I can find enough pirates to make that 99% combat bar disappear, (Still a way off Elite), but if it happens tonight or next week I will be having fun getting there.

PS

If anyone has worked out how to win please tell me, I want to avoid it like the plague, tyvm.

That's exactly the right way to play the game IMO. :)

And while I cannot tell you how to win the game, I can certainly recommend taking on Anacondas Dangerous and above, as that will almost certainly slow you down. ;) If you want to make it really challenging, turn off "Report Crimes Against Me" so the cavalry don't turn up and help out. ;)

You win the game by having fun.

I'm curious to know what solo advocates think about CQC championship: it's a feature that requires you to play in open, thus breaking the idea that "all mode are equals"... I'm wondering if Powerplay was released as an "open only" feature (as many open advocates asked) what would've been the reactions. I haven't seen a word about it yet.

As a "player freedom" advocate, my opinion of CQC is rather simple - CQC is a separate game mode with guaranteed consensual PvP with little or no consequence - it does not break the modes at all as it does not "exist" in the game - players do not have access to their main Commander's ships or credits - it's a separate progression ladder altogether.

We'll never know as Powerplay was implemented for all players, not just those who play in Open.

The premise of your question is incorrect, since solo, group, and open "modes" are just varying degrees of connectivity within the one galaxy-wide game framework.

As someone who mainly plays in Solo, but not averse to playing in Group or Open from time to time, I'm looking forward to CQC.

The primary difference of CQC is that you don't play in your main game ship, so getting your CQC ship popped by another player isn't at all distressing.

In other words, CQC will be a fun distraction from the main game, rather than - as has happened to me in the past - being interdicted by some player in Open and quickly destroyed, for no other reason than I was in a very weak ship at the time and they just wanted to blow a ship up (this was well before powerplay). That may have been fun for the PK'er, but for myself, the sheer pointlessness of his action made me sad for humanity ;)

But you can still earn credits from that feature, and a rank that you can use and show, respectively, in the "main game". In Powerplay you have a limited, not guaranteed consensual PvP (pledging is like putting a crosshair on your ship for all enemy powers). You have a separate progression ladder, with ranks, that is not accessible in the main game, and you can earn money that you can use in the main game. The only difference between the two is that you don't keep the same ships. And that you cannot do arena fighting against bots (NPCs).

I think because CQC is considered separate from the game by many and is not elite.

I do not really agree with this because money and reputation is gained in CQC which carries over to the game

and maybe you have missed it, but I have certainly complained - albeit not that vehemently - that CQC is open only and so shows a bias to that mode. I would love it if we could play in solo / private groups with friends, with the AI picking up the empty places.

It's a totally separate mode - pretty sure they said some of the flight/combat mechanics are slightly different too.

They're trying to fudge it into the main game by allowing some crossover of some things into the main game and obviously it will get referred to in the main game.

But unless you can fly to/from CQC in solo/group/open it's not part of the main game.

ETA - from MB's comments it also seems you won't be able to guarantee a match with a group of friends or friend. Don't think that will be welcomed by group/wings or by randoms that just want to match up with a friend(s).

.... which forgets that Powerplay can be played out of Open - therefore no PvP at all (unless by explicit agreement in a Private Group).

Where a player earns their credits does not seem to bother those who play in Solo or Private Groups - although it seems to bother some players who profess to play Open only.

CQC is PvP only - no NPCs involved - that's a fairly large difference. Coupled with the fact that playing CQC has no financial penalty, therefore cannot potentially bankrupt a player (losing a ship without adequate funds to pay the insurance excess), that's two quite significant differences....

From what I've read, CQC will be on the main menu, not accessed by a "requirement" through Open, so I don't understand the nature of your question as it can't disrupt the equality of the 3 modes as it is seperate

As Jockey has pointed out, it won't be those who play in Solo or Group who will complain, but those who hate anyone who PVP's yet they got any of the funds from a mode other than open.

Ok. From what I see there's a mixed perception of what is the "main game". I suppose that as long as a feature is considered as not part of this "main game", people don't care a lot if the feature involves only a particular mode.

Disregarding the positioning on the menu, it's an "open mode"-ish feature of the game because you don't have NPCs (bots) to play against. Neither you can join a group of friends and play against them, for what I've seen.

I'd be surprised if FD don't include a private game mode where people can at least have a match with friends rather than get dropped in with randoms all the time - seems kind of an obvious thing to do.

I'm not too fussed about CQC as it stands.

your drop into an instanced battle for the sole purpose of fighting other players... how is this "open"?

It's a new mode (all other modes have NPCs) and is separate from the other modes - it's PvP only (unlike any of the existing three game modes).
