I think the best way of doing it would be, 1 hour of the runners trying to get a station, if they dock at the station they get a point. Once docked, they relaunch and fly to a new system to try again.

If they get interdicted before the station, the runners, submit, then jump out of the system, they wait a couple mins then try again. The blockaders get a point for every interdiction.

The one with the most points at the end wins.

and u have solved the matchmaking thingie?;p

Is there a rule that all parties have to do this in the same mode?

I've done this already...you guys enjoy!

Jordan, count me in please.
Either team.

Also, may I suggest runners hold something cheap to drop if interdicted. That way defender's can collect something to track how many they stop.

Finally people in this thread on both sides are working together for a common goal. Brings a tear to all 8 of my eyes.

Can anyone think of a decent system yet? If anyone even mentions "Hutton Orbital" I'm out.

hutton orbital is the better place to have that work ;p both sides will be haveing great fun curseing the one that choose it ^^

Sorry..it seemed like this was one of those..."we'll show you!' games...where the one side had a set of expectations and everyone else knew what they were going to do! ;)

Seriously, if this is set for next Saturday...I'm in. I will try to run blockades.

Problems I foresee with this:

If done in private groups:
Different rules apply to this rather than Open. Once you are in a Private group, you have told the matchmaking system you want to play with these folks and will match you regardless of 'regular' rules.

These changes will skew the results to the right of the curve...you will be more likely to be matched together...thus improper conclusions will be made.

Rather than make it competitive...get 32 people together. And try to get everyone into a station instance.

helpful hints:

Everyone must meet within 1 click at the toaster rack. Scanners are so limited that many players will not see each other because they are out of range...you have to have a physical place to meet.

Repeat this experiment within a CZ or RES. Everyone must meet within 1 click of the zone marker. Same reason.

If you are still not convinced..then run the game you want.

I do not mind helping organize this...but, unless the matchmaking rules have changed...the outcome will be very unsatisfying to many.

I don't know, I think that's going to give you an unfair advantage! Let's call it wrap around vision mode. :)

As far as choosing the 'proper station' we will need a low volume (no commanders or less than 100 commander visit system)...should be easy to find...can someone look around?

Low volume/no visitors will show how many of us were acutally there...as a way to prove to everyone the total counts.

I would also suggest a VOIP solution for everyone so that this will be more social and more controlled....there will also have to be some comm rules...otherwise it becomes unwieldly.

yeah u need a solitary system with station to be without other ppl interference

Unfortunately I cannot do next Saturday, (and no, it's not because I'm too scared... ;) ) but if the day changes I'll join in.

I do agree with Roybe's suggestions though. If done as a group it will skew the matchmaking results.

I don't know why people don't suggest to the PvP crowd that they create a group so they can have guaranteed fights and try blockades that way... :) Oh, what, we already did?

Well I invisaged this little project with three goals in mind.

1. Have some fun.

2. See how reliable Open mode is in general.

3. Check the feasability of blockading systems as a strategy.

So it has to be in Open.

The contention is that Solo players have an unfair advantage because nobody is there to stop them. That might be true, it might however not be, or the real advantage might actually be miniscule, due to the instancing system. For this to be reliable a moderately populated system should really be used. Maybe Eravate, Kini or Kremainn?

Well I would say yes, and no. It's meant to be a test of the matchmaking system in Open, doing this in the middle of nowhere in a private group or friends list would kind of make that a non-test. External influences cannot be completely ruled out of course, and Sol is probably a bad idea, but if we can all agree on what exactly we are trying to achieve - it will make things so much easier to set up.

This is Jordan's idea, so I'll leave it up to him to decide the parameters. I'll help in any way I can, and look forward to participating.
