You are so focused on PEW PEW that you miss a lot.

Nothing either Kerrash mentioned had anything to do with pew pew except for not making yourself a victim of it.
Yes you might lose a few times but that doesn't make you a victim, that just means you got beaten by someone better or luckier than you in that instance.
Welcome to life in space!

It IS harder in Open, that is why their is SOLO or Group. ( Its harder because of all the human players who can and will kill you )
If you stay in Open and learn from it you WILL be a better player than someone who is only better than Bots.

You can make this as insulting as you want but to get better, you need to challenge yourself. More importantly, learn from the positives and the negatives.

The sooner people stop being so precious that someone pew pew'd them and learn how to counter or evade, the better this game will be from it. Even they don't want to be shot at, if they learn to avoid or escape it. They might find they actually have a bit of fun outsmarting another player.

Some people will always be terrible at gaming, so crippling a mode to make it playable for the worse player is not a positive move forwards for any game or community.

These people complain that NPC's are too hard... So should they create another mode?

Open
Group
Solo
Solo Special NPC's

You <--- A Mile ---> The point being made.

As for your post, as per normal you post what you want from the game a refuse to accept that is not the game for others, the game is what everyone wants it to be (excluding "me" being content for "you").
You want pew pew, you want to improve your pew pew skills, you have the ego deficit that requires epeen swinging in online games, I do not. I want to relax and take in the sights and beat on SJAs minions.

And as I have played open I call on "harder in open". The NPCs are the same in all modes - and open is barren remember, that is half the complaint here - so if open is barren like people say then all you have is the same NPCs as Solo and Groups, so it cannot be harder it can only be the same.

Why should he? It's his opinion - When Robert states his opinion I don't ask him to reword it to suit me.

Moderators do not speak for FD. They just moderate bad behaviour on the forum - any opinions they give are their own.

Moderators are supposed to enforce the forum rules, which include stopping "inflammatory comments" - saying people choose to avoid open because they suck at the game kind of breaks the rule not enforces it.
As for Roberts comments - as you seem to miss it completely, he quotes the Devs or paraphrases them. So if you don't like what he is saying, you need to tell FD to stop saying it, as all Robert has done is repeat them.

What nonsense...
I have clarified the statement to "playing open mode the way it was intended" I was not intending to invoke an emotional response; sorry if you interpreted it this way.

So, how would you "encourage" people to try open?....
I would suggest they try it and make their own choice.
Again I have edited the point to be more clear.

Kerrash, I have seen enough of your videos as well as your messages to know you do not mean it in this way...

It's obvious that this is quite an emotionally charged debate, I wasn't expecting to have to defend every word; sorry for any confusion caused.

And on that note, how about getting back on topic?

Thanks all. :)

How about closing the damn thread?

Because then someone would just start a new one, recycling everything all over again. Closing them continuously would be like playing whack-a-mole. They might as well have a single place for all new threads to be merged into.

Just wish some of the pro-split people would read and understand the first post before making their own posts. >.<

Yeah, yeah, I know all that... but as you observe, hardly anyone reads the first post - they just post an opinion/demand and get merged.
You might just as well close each new thread with the contents of that first post - discussing it generally gets nowhere!

Look at all the times I've reposted all the KS info / DDA and Dev quotes - as people just don't read the first page or ignore the facts and spout tosh for the sake of it.

They do tend to go quiet whenever they FINALLY figure out that the game is a PvE collection race to win PvP contests.

This is great to hear! I am glad you are doing so well at the game and playing open mode the way it was intended.
Sadly however, some players may either not understand this point of view or may not be skilled enough to play this way.
Which is why Frontier have left in the choice to pick a mode of play.

We could all either waste our time complaining about this or help others improve their skills and encourage them to try open.
Ultimately, the choice of how we act as a community is the only one that matters.
Now just hold on one minute before you begin stoning the guy. I read this as him talking about the skills it takes to play in open for open players, there is nothing in this comment that suggests he is saying you need to be more skilful to play in 'open' than in 'private' or 'solo'.
There is a certain skill set and level of experience you can acquire to thrive in 'open', and he is talking about how to help "others" acquire it - this is about improving the 'open' world, and again, there is nothing to suggest that those "others" are the players that use private or solo mode.
If anything, he emphases all players rights to play how they want to. Yes, he does say that the reason for multiple modes is because some players may not have the skills to play in open, but he does not claim that these skills are more than the skills required for solo, just that they are specific to open.
On a different note, regarding calling out Majinvash, I highly recommend it! Subjectively (because a text always veers between a grammatical and rhetorical reading), calling out Majinvash and his wingmen has been the most fun I've had in the game so far. He genuinely cares about the future of the 'open' mode for players of all levels and experiences, and I think it's a shame there is not a thread like this for players to put their heads together and discuss how to make the 'open' world more playable, without putting the question in opposition to the 'private' worlds.
