Modes The Solo vs Open vs Groups Thread - Part the Second [Now With Added Platforms].

Nice evasion, but please answer the question.

Why should someone who plays in open, but sticks to less populated areas and rarely...IF AT ALL...ever sees another human commander get the same rewards as someone who flies in high risk systems? Just because it's open?

Piffle. Oh, and in case you didn't know....you're only ever going to be able to interact with 31 other players because the way instancing works it limits instance size to 32. That's like many multiplayer combat games out there. There are several of those type games that offer a "training mode" where the rewards are exactly the same for killing the AI as it is for killing another player. Precedence set.

The REWARD for playing in open isn't increased money....it's the PLAYER INTERACTION. Otherwise, why play open?

Oh...and if you're going to complain about "there's nobody to interact with"....well...the only cause for that is in the mirror. Cause and effect, my good man/woman. Consequences for the actions. It happens in every game with PvP servers. Eventually there is nobody left but the gankers and then they too go home, leaving just the digital tumbleweeds.

In case that last part is unclear....IT'S YOUR VERY ACTIONS THAT ARE CAUSING THE PROBLEMS YOU PERCEIVE. Change your actions and watch what happens.

*DISCLAIMER*
In the above post, any term that could be construed to single out any one person is not meant to do so. I am using singular pronouns to refer to a broad range of people that share a particular style of interaction within the game.

This is an asinine argument. You're right, a high risk player will have more reward than a low risk player in open play, however a high risk player will affect players in open play even though they are not truly playing high risk.

Everyone is saying "Oh, I am not afraid of PvP, but it sure sounds scary and unpleasant!" Yeah ok...

It really is just a bunch of babies who don't want to suffer the consequences of PvP but still want to glean all the benefit from it. Play in your own sandbox you children, or stop being babies, but you don't get it both ways. (Except here where frontier apparently caters to you literal cowards).

it, frontier should just do away with open play entirely, since there is literally no benefit to it since I can play solo play in a safe bubble of coddled space and still get everything I want without worrying about the spooky boogie men.

I have been specific and mentioned only hostile players, not every player. Please read more thoroughly.

You say that as though facing hostile players is a bad thing that should be compensated for. Have you tried Mobius?

I love how you've had to fall back on name calling and saying folks are scared of PvP.
No one is scared of PvP, we just don't like you and don't want to waste our time in game with you.

I mean, with Mods and set rules, you still strut around the boards calling us names, I cannot begin to imagine how you behave in game with less rules and no one monitoring you.

FD gave us the choice of who we play with - sorry, but you're not on my list, and with your attitude, you never will be on my list.

Babies and cowards now eh? Well you've won me over, where do I sign?

Would solo players even care if they got their own instance of the galaxy seperate from open play? Why would that be a bad thing?
If solo got its own galaxy, I doubt you would hear a peep from solo/group players. However, that is never going to happen because it would be a big expensive problem for Frontier. Love it or hate it, but Frontier has decided that there is one background simulation for solo, groups, open, and coming soon, all the Xbox groups as well.

As long as there is a singular galaxy, solo and group players are going to be part of it. You may as well just get used to that.

Please refer to the bowling image I posted earlier for that answer:

Ew. I'm Lost for words. Anywhoo, Robert, that is a big disappointing and surely their netcode and servers would be in the future able to better handle them. They're going to have to especially if they want it to work with the Mac and Xbox version after all!

Wow I am lost for words. Anywhoo, Tex, you mention you have done so much in the game but failed to even research a little before buying. Not one member of your guild has mentioned this to you?, not one was aware of the 16 player cap during Beta being raised to 32 max, (in reality I doubt it has ever been reached).

"They're going to have to especially if they want it to work with the Mac and Xbox version after all!"

Why?

I hope you didn't bring a whole guild over here on the basis of big PVP fights, if you sold it to them on that basis they might be a little annoyed.

I am absolutely stunned that not one single Goon mentioned this to you, are there only 3 of you? or did every single member miss this too.

Some people didn't research the game before buying it, that's a problem with the buyer not the game.

Do you realise you can't own stations or space yet? best I stop with the facts, don't want any my post deleted for cruelty, I do feel like I just told you Santa Clause doesn't exist, I am not a bad man, I hate to see those salty tears.

.

LOL, back to being rude/ insulting.

You do know, that just shows you've run out of points and have completely lost the debate?

Here, exercise your reading skills with the information you should have read before buying the game.

From the Kickstarter;
*And the best part - you can do all this online with your friends, or other "Elite" pilots like yourself, or even alone. The choice is yours...*
*you will be able to control who else you might encounter in your game – perhaps limit it to just your friends? Cooperate on adventures or chase your friends down to get that booty. The game will work in a seamless, lobby-less way, with the ability to rendezvous with friends
*Play it your way*
Your reputation is affected by your personal choices. Play the game your way: dangerous pirate, famous explorer or notorious assassin - the choice is yours to make. Take on missions and affect the world around you, alone or with your friends.*
*You simply play the game, and depending on your configuration (your choice) *
*We have the concept of “groups”. They can be private groups just of your friends or open groups (that form part of the game) based on the play styles people prefer, and the rules in each can be different. Players will begin in the group “All” but can change groups at will,*

From the forum archives;
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6300

All Players Group– Players in this group will be matched with each other as much as possible to ensure as many human players can meet and play together
Private Group – Players in this group will only be matched with other players in the same private group
Solo Group – Players in this group won’t be matched with anyone else ever (effectively a private group with no one else invited)

Also, MMO does not mean "social" (It means lots of people connected)

Wikipedia;
A massively multiplayer online game (also called MMO and MMOG) is a multiplayer video game which is capable of supporting large numbers of players simultaneously. By necessity, they are played on the Internet. MMOs usually have at least one persistent world, however some games differ.

Oxford English Dictionary (Online);
An online video game which can be played by a very large number of people simultaneously .

Guess what? I don't give a if you want ot interact with me or not. If I am so offputting to you, then go play solo or in your little wimp group, I don't care. I'm a real man, I swim in ponds with my webbed feet and occasionaly dive into a vault full of gold coins.

Just don't let your baby simulation affect my simulation. You keep saying "Well who would want to play with you?" like its some master stroke argument. I don't give a if you don't want to play with me, and I am glad you can find somewhere to play devoid of me, just don't let your dumb galaxy simulation leak into mine.
Are you sure that you don't give a "" about it? You do seem very upset about the whole thing.
