Can you perform "ANY" game action in Solo play... yes, yes you can.
Can you perform "ANY" game action in a Private Group... yes, yes you can.
Can you perform "ANY" game action in Open play... yes, yes you can.

The only way the game can be any more "equal", is for every credit you earn... it gives me a credit. And for every credit I earn, you get a credit.
This is the only way, the game can be more "equal".


Oh, by the way, if I start to get credits from your earnings - I'm going to log out until next spring, those credits should A rate my new type 9 and get me an Anaconda

Am i the only one thinking that this discussion is getting old? I mean, really - no offense, but y'all should heed Roybe's advice and state your business in that Vox Populi thread an be done with it. You can fill another trillion of pages and it won't get FD to change anything if they don't feel right about it. Only thing you might want to do is asking yourself "If they do / don't do a thing, what does that mean for me?". I guess FD is pondering about the very same question, only the reason for that question is a different one.

You are right, "it won't get FD to change anything if they don't feel right about it.", most of us know this and try to explain it to others, the embers die down until someone has a "great new idea" relating to the modes, 99% of the time it is neither "great nor new", after 15,348 posts here, the horse has been atomised, honestly CSI could not find a trace if they all looked for horsey, and this was not the start by a long way.

The vast majority of players I have met in Open have never said anything, even when messaged. Nothing. Silence. Even the NPC's in Solo are more chatty.

Granted, but one would think that after... how many pages? - FD is well aware that some people disagree with the status quo. Again, just saying - if peeps want to continue, its your time. Was only suprised that this thread is still alive and well.

Not that many disagree to be fair, the thread has been known to go quiet for days at a time, the general trend is a few people that have been here a long time continue to discuss, but mainly people who didn't do any research before buying etc end up paying a visit to read jockeys wall of facts.

While I do understand what you are saying and I do also respect it.
You do have to remember, we are not all the same. Some folks have anxiety problems and cannot play with strangers due to those issues. Some folks also have tech problems and cannot join the game with other people nearby due to extreme lag.

There are players who play Solo or small private groups due to not being able to play with other people for whatever reason.

I'd just like to take the time to thank the forum moderators and FDevs for allowing us to have this discussion in the first place. So many game forums nowadays are tightly controlled, mismanaged, iron-fisted boards where any kind of negative opinion is routinely and immediately quashed and only rainbows and unicorns can post positive, uplifting, happy thoughts.

Except by using/picking solo mode....you never actually have to see anyone else, anywhere. How is your situation "better"? Why should I follow your "advice"? What is my "incentive" for risking unpleasant experiences in open?

I've been a gamer for decades now...and I've had those "unique experiences" you speak of...in every game that allows PvP. Kinda renders the "unique" obsolete, eh? I'm of the age now where I no longer feel the need/desire to make someone else miserable for my enjoyment....and refuse to be someone else's content/misery outlet.

You are correct in one of your posts insofar as we both paid the same amount for the game, and both our opinions are equally valid. I'm not disputing that at all. However....your game play and enjoyment of the product put forth is also equivalent to mine, and I don't want to play in open....but I purchased a game that stated I didn't have to in order to be able to enjoy every facet of said game. People that want me to do something I'm unwilling to do, or to somehow devalue/lessen my contributions to game mechanics/systems are perfectly fine in stating those opinions. I'll fight for their right to state those opinions....but I'll be damned if I'll let them take away/devalue/lessen my enjoyment of the product I purchased.

I also daresay...that if FDevs do alter this core system, I'm well within my rights to ask for a refund, as the product that I originally purchased will have ceased to exist. I'm also reasonably certain I won't be alone in this reaction, should that undesirable day ever come to pass. Let us fervently hope it does not.

Yes we do have a choice, in ED we have a choice as in RL, I share the same air as everyone else but I never have to leave my house or meet anyone if I don't want to.

The supermarkets deliver food so if I don't want to I never have to meet anyone other than the delivery man.

All the Open Players understood from the very beginning that there would be a SOLO MODE, and that there would be people playing side by side in the same galaxy, and you all still bought the game. However, the same people who knew about this "Issue" still purchased the game, and are trying now to convince people to go into open as there is no game content... are you guys even looking at what you are asking for? We are not your content, we are customers of the same game, we have the same rights.

We used to have a a lot of "I QUIT COS" and "ED SUCKS COS" threads, all explaining how Elite will fail because they were upset, now its more "I didn't research it but that's the games fault not mine, I watched the trailer and the box had MMO on it!"

I guess that proves that life goes on. Damn I haven't even seen an "I quit" thread from a Conda pilot who was flying without insurance for ages, have we turned a page?

I'm wondering if this thread is still really a discussion about certain fundamental pros and cons of the execution of a game, or if it is just an arena of people bickering, not even considering those guys on the other side of the fence just might be right a little bit.
244 pages doesn't necessarily mean that this is a particular fruitful discussion. Some people just want to be told they're right. This is turning into that. And it's the internet. You're not going to be told you're right. Quit tryin already.

I definitely have an opinion about this, but I'm just here to say I think this is an incredibly futile and annoying discussion. Yeah I know, it's a forum and all, and we're here to voice our free blablabla but there are tons of interesting topics here. I just get annoyed that this one pops up so often.
