505 ppl from near 600k ? isnt even near to the right result ;)

The poll was on Reddit, seems legit to me.

Haha... there is a very diverse playerbase on reddit and the poll was apparently posted around here. As i said, i'd guess its fairly representative. Of course, all those 599000 (just a random number i pulled out of my Sag A*) people who don't part in forum discussions will not vote but there again, they are also not part of the 599900 (again, out of my Sag A*) who haven't taken part in this thread either.

And I was going to ask what modes it will be available in, but that won't be my problem for some time yet ;)

I heard its going to be for solo only. :D

Exclusive for a few months, woo.

Did they say months?

This still seems to imply the premise that "If everyone plays in Open, my faction can stop any negative actions towards us by other players"... As anyone who has played a lot of Open and taken part in or tried to run blockades, the instancing system means that it is not possible to prevent all actions. The instancing mismatches due to connection speed, friends list, geo-location etc all impact in this.

If, after all that, the feeling is "Well at least if everyone was in Open we would have a chance"... that is an interesting viewpoint, not a guarantee of success.

Dear Sir, you appear to be thinking logically. This might not be the forum thread you're looking for :D

if they incorporate CQC to actually tie into Power Play and other cool stuff in the game, that's it. I'm bringing home the bacon.

But this raises the question of "Why don't we just have it open and free for everyone to shoot one another in one big instance" kinda deal coming back to Open, Solo and Private. But hey, it's still something!

You have no understanding how the game works. Even in Open, at best you will see maybe 12 people in your instance. The "hard cap" is 32 - but forcing the matchmeker to do it is a whole new meta ball game.
You are NEVER and can NEVER see all the people working against you.
And you can counter, EVERY PP shows how to achieve and counter each goal, if your team works harder/ faster than the other team, your team wins - modes have nothing to do with that.

I don't understand the fail on this basic point. +1 to you, sir.

I have nothing against solo or group. I have used them for CGs, otherwise you end up with 15 CMDRs waiting for the next spawn in conflict zones, which is dull as hell.

So this is why you guys are paranoid that something is going on behind your back - because you are the very people who have done these things.

All I needed to know.

As long as it is available in Group and Solo mode.
My gaming community could hold events (and replace out TF2 night with ED night)
And in Solo I could wander the arenas looking around at all the nice graphical effects and hard work the artists put in ~ plus learn where all the nooks and crannies are ;)

yessss, I have an idea for Power Play to get involved for this, think of it as the Champion of Champions. The Elite of the Elite. A struggle of the very best of each Power, battling it out to show whose might is strongest.

I personally want that to be an Open Play kinda thing or something that is streamed to everyone.

You are the making the mistake of trying to join different parts of the game together into some kind of cohesive whole.

So you don't want to be effected by other players, and that's why you play in Open?

In any case, your activities in Open or Solo effect mine in Open or Solo, so what difference does it make?

It is too easy for you! TOO SIMPLE IN SOLO! If you are my Enemy ( if imperial or Federal ) I WANT TO FIGHT YOU! Understood? And when you are in my Territory ... I want to fight you... You kill noob-npc and change my Territory with that... Is IT fair? No...

Yes, it is fair. Because you can also go kill "noob-npc".

What is not fair, is having to share a well done game (which will become a classic like the first Elite did) with people who abuse it and get the fun patched out of it because they are neanderthals trying to break every part of the game.... that my friend, is not fair. It is like taking Rab C Nesbitt to see The Phantom of the Opera - the whole thing is wasted on him, and all he'll do is ruin your enjoyment and that of everyone else near by.

This is what I am curious about. Is there such a thing as a successful all-instance blockade, technically?

Technically, if you had everybody on the same gig switch with FTTC to the Internet and both sides were on each others friends lists, then yes. Maybe.
