no, that is not how it works. you guys need to look at it from both sides. if you affect my game world then where you play is your choice BUT where you play should ALSO be my choice!

Procure for me a decent gaming rig, a sufficient internet connection, and electricity to run such. Buy me a copy of the game, negotiate the hours and pay me the going rate and I'll happily be your content. Until then, lulz.

But, it's ok with us if you affect our game world. The one (1) we all share. There is just one Galaxy, we all play in it. The Difference is who you could be matched up with. The 'Open Only' crowd has no special claim to the Galaxy. They are but one facet of it, right from the start. There is no Open Game and the rest of us just hanging on. That's the point of view you should consider shedding as you move ahead with E: D.

On another, completely irrelevant note; I'm convinced that the cost to replicate separate servers, the background data, for the different modes, would out weigh your troubles anyway.

so u done solo trade and now solo is bad?? the irony here is too strong me thinks

I did solo trade because it was easy, and I wanted a quick buck to get the ship I wanted to play with in Open mode. I wish I didn't have that option. By not taking advantage of solo mode as a trader, I would be at a disadvantage to any other player that did, hence why I reluctantly did it.

@ARGH

You will never have to worry about my PvP skills, I have none. Most of my "wealth" was amassed in open from exploring, the rest from groups.
So the second question may be irrelevant to to you but the Python I am in atm was bought from open profit. Even though I saw maybe two players at most as I earned it.

I actually see your point but I have to reject it on the simple fact that this game was advertised with this architecture from before it was even started, during the testing phases and on retail completion. I do not like the idea of anyone being denied the choice and freedom that it gives. It has been done this way by design, good or bad is up to each person to decide. From the quotes I read yesterday from the games maker I do not expect it to change soon, if at all.

@gMcizzle

Choice is good. No one forced you into solo, just as no one forced me into groups or open. Those are my discussions and my alone, I will not blame the game for that.
The community is fine, it all plays ED weather in Solo, Group or Open. Everyone is the community, the only people who would split it are those that wish to put "walls' around the modes.

You are also correct in that this is taking away playing time. We may disagree but thank you both for the polite and thought out responses.

:D

still to want to mess with other players mode when u used it is just hypocrisy....

Now I understand something. People feel better when they could dominate others in background than risking in a fight that they may lost. Well...Frontier allow this choice so we should face it.

People in Open, we can shoot our anger in CQC.

Or playing in open for two months but out in the black. Millions made and never saw a soul.

then what is the problem of just having one open world server? if you can just hide far away like this why the demand for a solo server? ah, I know why, so you can transfer your wealth around star systems with impunity by entering solo mode, right? tisk, tisk....that is not fair game play, now is it?... I bet you will say that, "but everyone has this choice!". aha, but it really is not a choice. it is a risk avoidance mechanism and it breaks immersion and goes against the fundamentals of open world sandbox game design. if you want the choice of transporting your ships around the game then I want the choice to blockade your efforts.

the ones applauding the solo invisible system under the guise of "choice" are really the ones that are preventing choice!

maybe cause we bought the game with that choices from the start? i wonder if u did ur research on the game before u bought it....

I want to be able to play Solo/Group precisely to avoid people like you.

Should Open mode be forced (and don't kid yourself, it won't happen), I'd personally start the "tweak your router" thread.

Are you serious? You don't get to choose a damn thing about me.

Again, again (Teletubbies!) There is only one "server" as far as Elite is concerned. It works for EVERYONE in Open, Group, and Solo. They are all part of the same thing - just given options on who else they play with. There is a demand for a Offline mode - which would take servers out of the question - but that was pulled a long time ago. Plus, "hide far away" is an intrinsic part of gameplay, except many people call it Exploring. Try it sometime - it's a 3rd of the core gaming loop of Elite.

see, you cannot answer it. you cannot come up with a real answer as to why you should be allowed to go invisible with 100% impunity in an open world pvp mmo, so they should just split the servers. you can still have your exact game that you purchased and I can also have mine. I don't expect you to interfere with my open world's economy and other aspects just like you don't expect me to hunt you down in your closed world.

You are not a very happy man are you sir. Perhaps as has been suggested, you should have put more research in before buying this game. Heck it if makes you feel better by implying that I am a coward in a video game, go ahead.

I have been defending the right of choice but if you feel you must take it down to insults be my guest. For my part I am done. Have a good day.
