Go to the "Livery" tab first, that puts your ship on screen - then flick back to "Internal" if you want to show your gear.
Moving to "Hardpoints" will reset the view to the hardpoint in question.

was wondering about how to do this also. Thanks, PavelKCZ & Jockey!

You've seen my friends and I playing Elite, then? :D

I might be a good enough pilot now to handle the T-7.

I flew a T7 for quite some time, actually found it rather pleasant to cruise about with (and very profitable, too!). The laterals are complete junk, but it rolled and pitched well enough I could dock it at 180 with no trouble at all. I recently upgraded to a clipper though, now I expect I am disgustingly spoiled. That thing flies like... Like... Oh my. /swoon.

You can also use the debug camera mode to do the same thing.....unless you are on the XBONE...

Is this open vs solo or some sort of chat thread?

We get off topic sometimes but we are always ready to participate in the discussing Open vs Solo, we would be happy if you would bring a fresh discussion.

Personally I think the vs should drop because it isnt' a contest between them no matter what some may think.

can anyone confirm... is CQC going to be open only or will there be private and solo support for it?

if it is open only (and I am pretty sure i read somewhere it is) then how do you guys feel about it? I see no reason why we cant have it against ai to..... I always thought all content would be for all modes (just coming from the opposite angle that the open only people usually come from :)

Erm... not sure if you're serious or not :S:S:S:S:S

If you're being dry/sarcastic - then bravo, you sir have confused me. Something very few have ever done.
If you are being serious;

CQC is not part of the main game and not connected to it in any way - apart from being loaded by the same main menu the normal game is.
Is has a set list of ships to use (so you are not using your own ships) and life / death is meaningless as it works like World of Tanks / Robocraft / Mechwarrior Online style of play.

Well I suppose you could CVQ in solo against AI - hasn't really occurred to me TBH.

It is definitely a separate login from the menu - not in the main game..

I am being serious..... i think CQC would be good to support in private modes for groups of friends to play in, and against AI for practice..... where is the harm in that? esp if SJ has got her AI up to speed :)

PS I thought it did link in in part to the main game....... i thought money earned in it crossed over?

No cross over at all.

Just like you can load training missions from the main menu that have nothing to do with your CMDR or assets so to is CQC.
You just jump in, pick a ship (I think there is about 5 to choose from), go blow stuff up or get killed - await the score table at the end, then start again.

It is pure PvP, with a random matchmaker.
But it costs nothing to use / play and will have no impact at all on the main game. Well, apart from people getting better at PvP ;)

oh ok, I stand corrected then on that.... I would have put money on earnings going to our main cmdr however :/

that being said, that is still no argument against private groups or solo having a go against AI for those with bum internets imo :)
(a little segue however its a bit of a missed trick not having it in the PU however.... could be some nice content for a couple of systems, even if they still had it outside as well for those at Sag A who wanted to do unranked games)

That is where a Hi RES comes in handy.
Some friends and I made a wing of 3 and really went for it one day - it was mental !
The NPCs kept spawning in droves, we had to jump out after 20 minutes as we were all out of Chaff / SCB / Ammo etc.... but it was fun! :D (and yes we kept going back)

I play in the Mobius Group a lot more now than I used to, so if anyone wants a wingman at, I'm happy to help out (I'm in Empire space).

Something was mentioned somewhere - something may/will carry over.

As announced at E3 we have a new game mode coming to Elite: Dangerous with CQC Championship. This multiplayer arena style combat uses specialised ships for quick dip in and out combat. The ships in CQC Championship are separate from the ships you own in the main game and there is no penalty for destruction in the same way as in the main game. Naturally this mode will feed into the main game and we’re considering it as another career role that players can take part in. Within CQC Championship there are two paths of progression.

The first is integral to CQC Championship itself and provides a ladder of upgrades and prestige as you rise through the ranks. Players earn experience by completing various actions in matches (such as kills or assists) and so progressing through the ranks. Different ranks will unlock ships, equipment and abilities and once the top rank is reached then it is possible to wrap around to further increase your status.

The second and parallel path connects with the main game with its equivalent of the Pilots Federation ranks. Players can also earn credits with the matches which are then available in the main game. As it is structured event outside of the normal flow of play it makes it easy to partake and a boon for explorers who are often thousands of light years away from civilisation!

So there is a cross over, I completely missed that - sorry folks for the wrong information before.
Looks like even explorers will be able to earn credits in CQC for the main game, while still staying out in the black collecting data with their proper commander.
Not sure how some folks will explain being in two places at once ;)

From what I understand CQC is virtual reality. It was first referenced in that way on Galnet anyway.

“The losses posted for this year are partly due to the construction of a completely new and extremely exciting line of VR-Streams, which includes the latest instalment in the popular CQC franchise.”

Just think of it as an upgrade to your ships comms equipment allowing you to use VR technology to participate in galaxy wide contests, powered by the newly discovered properties of the um... Um... Interstellar Medium! ;)

Edit: Like wot CMDR Malkov said :)

Well found, Jockey! I ain't too impressed by that idea, as it happens!

At least I know I aint going mad(der) and I had read it somewhere ;)

Me neither to be honest, its an out of game nonsense which not only makes no sense but is a missed opportunity to add more content into the PU. They could rope of some systems for CQC which we unlock permits for as we progress, and as for the CMDRS out in the black who want to play, well they could have unranked matches which they can play in which are outside of the main game imo...

but if we can have remote VR in the deepest of space, then surely that makes for a huge disconnect between not being able to cash in exploration data and bounties etc as well as not having live access to commodies prices where ever we want, and not having to explore any system which has ever been scanned by another player and sold to the pilots federation..... using this VR tech to transmit data it should all be available to us where ever we are.
