Banned
It's unfortunate - I rather liked Eric - but I can totally understand where CIG is coming from. It's their chat server and they don't want it to be used for advertising other people's games. Eric can't have it both ways - he left CIG after all. If he is going to be posting as himself on CIG community portals then he needs to take off his Descent hat.

He was barely advertising. He was more like answering questions made, but to start, he was not talking about his game.

It is like if I was banned because someone knwos that I am doing some game, and asked me some questions that I was educated enough just to answer them.

Worst when the speech of the company, the message of the company from the mouth of its CEO, is that they support friends. crowd-funding and space sims in general... but this is obviously blablabla as many things that CR says.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

I don't pretend to know the history behind this incident. Disco Lando had said in chat that Eric was 'warned' prior. That itself suggests that Eric knew he was on thin ice. If it were me in Eric's shoes I'd just avoid CIG chat after getting told to knock it off. He has his own forum, etc.

Like I said, it's just a sucky incident all around. Eric is a cool guy. I loved watching him on Wingman's Hangar. I hope Descent pans out for him. I also like CIG and have sympathy for their position here.

Didn't know that, I respect you more now :)
Good vid, I hope people will see the real message through the curtain.

Please enlighten me - I'm a bit confused about the 'real message'. That video by RC-Plorer makes the game look like a point & click arcade experience (to my eyes), and although I've never actually played Battle Royale, the Broken Moon scenario looks very different in Vanduul Swarm - unless the latest update has changed it - in which case, I am well out of date.
Also, I was not aware that the 3PV for combat was there - has RC got a modded client?

Not looking to criticise, just asking for some info :D

Thanks

3PV is unimportant, it plays the same as Freelancer, aka "follow the mouse".
It represents the lack of everything we were promised in the original pitch.
It's an arcadish mouse shooter with focus on shooting, instead on flying, which promotes the lack of any skill to fly.
Unfortunately, most of us don't like that. Most of us hoped to put our joysticks/HOTAS to good use, but as you're aware, I guess we'll have to wait a few years more to see what will CIG come up with for us.

I'm in the same camp as you guys. And yes, RC-Plorer's video clearly demonstrates game-play to be pretty much identical to Freelancer, which we were promised would not be the case.

The background gameplay was taken from the space shooter "Star Conflict". That's why I named my video "Star Commander: Citizen Conflict Arena"

Ah, now it all makes sense - nicely done :D

My confusion stemmed from the fact that my preconceptions about guessing the motivation behind the video had their polarities reversed. Or in simple English, I didn't just see it for what it is :D

Hmm, this one's new:

That is a nice map.
I'd like to see a bit more of that in ED too.
A few hand crafted unique and dramatic environments would be very welcome.

But the flying part, looks dramatically awful. It is hard to believe how bad it looks.
I hope SC will do better.
