A few pages back someone noted the funding was dropping low and anticipated a sale to bolster numbers, your wish has been heard!

CIG will be cashing in on St.Patrick's day with their green ship sale (so original guys...)

But the party doesn't stop there, as we have rallied an impressive cadre of green ships, and will be making them available over the weekend as part of a special promotion to ring in the greenest of holidays.

From classic brawlers like the Gladius Valiant, to surly dogfighters like the Mustang Delta, support ships such as the Gemini, and even the the Constellation Phoenix - we've got you covered this weekend. So find a designated pilot, raise a green beer and remember to head to the pledge store on Friday.

Expect some enticing sales this weekend. The full list of ships is not given, but the examples show that there should be a pretty good spread.

Yes, as you said, Crytek created a proof of concept demo and CIG haven't refuted that. But as to when development started, it comes down to how much work CR did prior to the kickstarter, quite possibly on a personal/private basis. It seems impossible he did no work. At the bare minimum we can assume he said to Crytek, "make this ship fly here, change that pixel to blue" (*cough* *cough*), and that he did work to create and submit the kickstarter. So that's the bare minimum, but at most, he may claim that he worked full time, designing ships, lore, doing research, recruiting, etc. Again, being pedantic, I don't see how the court documents by themselves prove he was lying about when development started.

What would be very amusing is if, during discovery, he is required to provide time sheets for his work prior to the kickstarter, especially to justify his year back pay, and other claims made regarding the Crytek vs. CIG/CR work at that time.

Does anyone have a link to where CR said he paid himself for work done prior to Kickstarter?

I remember at some point in 2013 "Star Citizen" (the IP) got sold by "Chris Roberts" (the private person) to "Cloud Imperium Games" for three million dollars.

Of course, this is just another case of a fraudulent Kickstarter, because it means the company ("CIG") advertising "Star Citizen" on Kickstarter didn't even own the IP it asked money for while pretending it does.

Being deceived by Chris Roberts we essentially backed the wrong company, which not only didn't own a WIP gameplay implementation, it also didn't own the IP itself. It was an empty shell to collect money with smoke & mirrors.

That's mostly important for previous Kickstarter backers, who bought in in 2012, expecting to get to play that WIP gameplay shown in the pitch video. It's not important for people who bought in in 2014 and beyond, because why should they care? It doesn't matter for them.

Well, irrespective of backing time crwdfunding is primarily driven by trust on the developer.

Did they apply a green shader over previous jpegs? They have no shame. Will they have a Hawking sale next?

Totally called it. Although predicting CIG will have a ship sale is not really a risky bet. But funding has been regularly dropping below 1000 dollars per hour, and that frequently seems to trigger one.

Funding chart, 5 out of 6 hours was around 600 dollars per hour. Presume that is their current baseline for subscriptions. Interesting to see 3 hours ago someone dropped 10,000. That is a rather interesting number. Not aware of any packages that cost 10,000, and doubt it was a sudden rush of many people all within the same hour. Smells like an injection of cash from an investor.

Here's a thought, what if CR occasionally puts money in out of his own funds to bump up funding... money he got from funding in the first place? Sure, very tinfoil hat of course.

You make an outrageous suggestion that CR puts money in himself! I remember reading that employees were encouraged to buy packages. Then I cannot help but ponder the possibility of subsequent refunds which are excluded from the funding tracker.

Depends if he's in a Lethal Weapon film.
And if he is from South Arfica.
And how old Danny Glover is.

Fun fact: Elon Musk is from SA, does not have diplomatic immunity, and is not too old for this 80's reference.
(Can also put a car into orbit for less than that the door-clipping fidelity of SC)

There's a joke here, hidding in a booby-trapped toiled, waiting to happen.

Then it blows up into a load of anti-Semetic Yaffles.

Err...

OK, that came out wrong, but I think I made both points I was aiming for.

(Sorry Prof, and I'll see the rest of you in... September?)

Where we are going, we don't need eyes to see.

Maybe this is part of CR's masterplan. No eyes, can't see the terrible framerate.... is that why they need people's IDs? Surgeons will be going round to backer's houses and removing their eyes? :O

Time to read that EULA very carefully :D

I should put this glass down and sleep.

Also, we shouldn't joke about these headshots.

It's great that the programming team is so quick and agile that they manage to switch from Cryengine to Lumberyard over two days, and then from Lumberyard to whatever version of Gambryo they use in Oblivion and mod that whole engine in just a few weeks' time.

…that is what they've done here, I hope. Surely, that is what they've done?

One of the things that baffles about their changelog is, isn't that about one programmer for a month? what the flick are they doing over there?
Don't they have 500 staff? Are they all making coffee for Chris?
