So if I ave this right, anyone who paid money before today can't even ask for a refund (without going to court) because the company who took your money no longer exists. But don't worry. If you want to give CIG some money after today, there is a shiny new company who will take it from you.

If you gave your money to RSI Corp you won't be getting it back without a proper full on court case where they have to do things like 'piercing the corporate veil' to get at the money which has been moved out of a subsidiary that no longer exists.

Whether you gave your money to RSI Corp if you were a non-US backer is suddenly not clear to me, because it's starting to look like they have been using different subsidiaries (child companies) depending on your location - this would be pertinent information for UK backers who have been told they are contacting the wrong company.

It's like a spiderweb.

Fracking lol. All this sounds like pre emptive moves to minimize the impact of Crytek´s case or similar.

Also presume that having a party that does not exist into a contract is all kinds of illegal? Unless surrendering automaticaly activates some kind of regulation / law / clause that defines who inherits the rights and liabilities etc.

Would be great to have a table of ToS parties depending on the region. Can´t be bothered to use a VPN for that though.

This is unforgivably shoddy behaviour. If I want a refund from mega-corp plc (holding) for a purchase made at mega-corp.com, I should not need to tell them which of their subsidiary companies the payment actually went to or through.

Very poor.

Did the subsidiary obtain a signed parent company guarantee? No? Check mate.

Damn, reminds me of a brutal breakup with some empty promise to "stay friends." All he needs are some heaving sobs while "Pet Sounds" plays.

If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on, believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would LTI do me

I mean, it was clearly beyond moronic for a company that never shipped a game before to have 475 some-odd people on the payroll, but since admitting that would be foolish I guess they'll spin any downsizing as "something totally natural now that Squadron 42 is so close to release." But more importantly, it'll free up more money for the Roberts family and the lawyer to grift off the top over the next few years of continuous rattling.

I watched a bit of that. It was rather a strange stream. Wasn't quite sure what to make of it. I mean, for a start, Lando isn't wearing a hat or cap! I didn't even know for sure he had hair! But how he was talking - I don't know, but it sounded like someone who had just been given the boot from a company they love. The body language, the tone of voice.... maybe he hasn't been booted, but maybe he sees the writing on the wall. He's seen Ben moving to "remote work", and maybe there have been other changes internally.

Hollywood accounting.

Yes I got a similar 'bad feeling' too. He certainly did not come across as being in any manner happy or up-beat. Whereas he 'aced' depressed, tired and peeved.

and on monday, and the monday before that, and the monday before that....

Doesn't change the fact that it appears CIG has just spent a lot of money changing its corporate structure. Further, as I understand it, given the costs involved this is not something that is recommended. Indeed, it appears to be something usually avoided as the limited benefits such a move accrues really only seem to benefit those with what we will call a tight income stream.

In short, at its best, it seems to provide yet more evidence that CIG is indeed running low on money...running very low on money, while at it's worst it seems to be a system to deprive people of their legal right to a refund by abusing the companies corporate structure. That isn't necessarily the scam some people would make it out to be but it would be yet another lowdown dirty move and really shady.

All it proves, I feel, is that CIG/RSI/Whatever they are this week, are still spending time and money on things that aren't giving me the games they owe me :D

So sorry about TB :(

CIG have a presentation out today about the wonders of the Optane SSD.

They are trying to explain their I/O subsystem that's so good, it's just perceived as bad.

Now, what really makes me wonder is why they are focused on local workstation performance. They had videos earlier on showing off their distributed storage platform and how their virtualized centralized environment reduced devtime - despite it somehow being distributed.

They've got apparently 1.34Tb of build data that they need to sync up per branch. Their old system hosted 24x SSD in SATA RAID 6, and sync took 6 hours and 13 minutes. Moving to Optane - they have 4 in VROC RAID, and sync takes 3 hours and 30 minutes.

That's all very nice, but not particularly juicy, and makes absolutely no sense.
