The Star Citizen Thread v9

It's called "Gamescom", because the original trademark Games Convention (GamesCon) is owned by a different venue, which doesn't hold the event anymore.

Initially Gamescom was a ripoff by major publishers, who decided they want their own thing. That's the reason for the weird name similar but different enough to not get sued.

In the end only the ripoff survived. Now see the irony of Star Citizen ("muh evil publishers") showing up on Gamescom?

I know, it was my obviously not so good attempt of a wordplay. ;)

Shopping wins me over.

Who doesn't like shopping?

I bought pasta and macaroni today. And bog roll.

Can you tell me how this can be accessed in 3.2? I couldn't access it during free flight.

Roadmap update:

Just so I understand the roadmap correctly, is that saying that 3.3.0, which is due for release by 30 Sep 2018, is 11% complete and of the features in polishing, the 4 Hurston moons look like they should have a dependency on their parent planet being complete and that is stalled? I guess I've been out of the project management world for too long...the clock ticking at CIG must be deafening ;)

EightAce on the SA forums......

There was a leak/rumour a few months ago that Chris wanted SQ42 out by Dec 2018/Jan 2019. It wasn't posted anywhere.

Then the rumour of investors a few weeks ago was posted on here.

Then this latest rumour of new money and moving to new offices, focussing on a SQ42 release for Jan 2020 appeared a few days ago, but hasn't been posted because frankly no one knows what to make of it.

All I can say is that the rumour mill died months ago as folks exited the project, and a new one has appeared to deliver assurances and positive developments primarily concerning funding and availability of money.

This latest rumour was not posted publically so it has now been posted on SA by someone historically connected to the project.

We're now entering a weird and fun phase of positive news flowing from back channels and rumour mills.

A sudden windfall from a mysterious benefactor followed by even more expansion sounds "positive" until you remember that a vast budget and workforce have done very little for this project so far. If anything it has been a handicap. Still, when they miss the "early 2020" goal, they'll be able to blame it on having to refactor the pipelines for the new offices.

Straight from the intergalactic news van

Foundry 42 are expanding from 270 odd to 315 staff members .
They are moving buildings to a bigger campus in the next 6 months
Sq42 is scheduled for release end of 2019 early 2020. It exists but it's ******* awful
All resources are on sq42 anything else you see is bull to get dollars
A lot of cash has suddenly appeared I have no idea where from or how, but it gives at least another 2 years dev time and lawsuit payoffs

Lots of people will say this is bull but it's straight from the horses/bears mouth

Foundry 42 expanding from 270 to 315 was already in their financial filing of December 2017.
And to be quite frank, the rest of that story is like a 15 inch , I have to see it to believe it!
Answer the call 2948 (literally).

They've raised enough crowd-funded cash to provide one dedicated professional developer for each original Kickstarter backer for one month.

(I've decided)

Would have been a much better pitch idea too IMHO

Have a developer live at your house for 1 month. Tell him/her your game idea and have it knocked up in Unity or something. You just need to feed them Pizza and have a floor for them to sleep on.
