First things first, real life comes first, always. We value all of our members whether they log on once a day or once a year. We do not have any playtime requirements.
That disclaimer aside. . .
Globally Active.
Swords of Makhai is a globally based, highly diverse, and perhaps unreasonably active squadron. We are dedicated to dominating all aspects of Elite, while having a fun time doing so. We participate in all available game loops, and despite being very new, we are the only squadron that is ranked top 5 in every leaderboard category (#1 spots in Combat, Ax, Trade, and Political, at least as of this writing). When I say we do everything it is a quantifiable fact. The only activity we do not condone is seal clubbing/ganking. Powerplay + organic PVP is allowed and encouraged, if you are into that. No matter what interest you might have, you will find someone to watch your back.
We primarily play in open and encourage members to do so - but it's not mandatory. We normally run squad events either in open or the PG, and we strongly recommend all powerplay activities take place in open (particularly stronghold carrier farming). Otherwise, you can play in whatever mode you are most comfortable. We welcome players of all skill and experience levels, and have a healthy mix of new folks and void tested veterans. We have a very active Discord, with 5-20 folks in voice channels at any given moment. If you aren't ready to join the larger groups, we have a "create your own VC" function for cozier voice sessions.
Purposeful Gameplay
Our squadron is very active in the BGS (Background Simulation) and Powerplay spaces, and we try to direct the efforts of all CMDRs to assist in those efforts. Every planet scanned, pirate hunted, ore mined, and Thargoid slain contributes to the squadron's larger goals, which we try to communicate on a regular basis. Even if you don't want to really get in the weeds of BGS, we can assure you that every minute of your gameplay is contributing to something greater.To help coordinate these efforts, we have a primary and secondary wing system. Interested commanders are able to pick a wing that aligns with their primary gameplay focus. These wings represent the following areas: AX, BGS, powerplay, trade, mining, exploration, PVP, and even CQC! Choosing a primary wing basically indicates your primary interest, and you may be asked to help with certain operations. To be clear, that in NO WAY restricts you from participating in any activity you want. If you choose a secondary wing, you still get access to the wing channels, and you can help out with the operations as desired. You just don't get a fancy discord icon.
Of course participation in the wing system is completely optional, and you are able to freely participate in the gameplay loop you are currently enjoying the most.

Frequent Events.
In addition to our coordinated day to day operations, regularly run events catering to a wide range of interest. The wing leaders usually run these events, which are open to anyone in the squadron as well as allies. We have AX events every Thursday (open to the public), 1-2 week long exploration events, weekly stronghold carrier events, and friendly PVP events, just to name a few. We also try to run other activities such as giveaways, photo ops, bingo, and some light RP (working on that). We know that some folks might have limited time to play, so we try to ensure that there is always something engaging and exciting to participate in!(Post FDEV Unlocked update, yes of course we will be participating in colonization)
Frequent Events.
It is our goal that our events can attended by anyone, regardless of experience/skill level, and if there are any engineering requirements, we'll be more than happy to help you get squared away before the event start.
Why Kaine?
Powerplay 2.0 has reinvigorated the community - ourselves included! Our ethos aligns with Nakato Kaine and we support her vision of what the Alliance ought to be. A true coalition of independent systems and factions. Not a false democracy beholden to a mega corp! We are aware of Kaine high command, but we are an autonomous entity. We are willing to working alongside them whenever our interests align. Our main goal however, is to forge our own path and become the most respected Kaine strike team in the game!If any of this interests you, come check us out!
