Hey Frontier,
Do you really expect evryone to believe the Taipan is a Faulcon deLacy ship?
In my mind, here is what transpired the day the graphics designer designed the Taipan. Remember this is before the days of the Cheiftain.
Designer: Hey boss, here is that design concept for the Lakon Spaceways fighter.
Boss: Cool...wait Lakon doesn't make fighters. It can't be Lakon.
Designer: But that's what everyone agreed upon in the meeting.
Boss: Well its not possible. Lakon Spaceways makes freighters and explorers. NOT fighters.
Designer: Fine I'll go do another design.
Boss: And waste valuable resources? No! Use that design, just call it something else.
Designer: Like what?
Boss: Call it a Falcon deLacy ship.
Designer: This looks nothing like a Faulcon deLacy ship. It screams Lakon...look at it.
Boss: I don't want to look at it...No one cares about looks anyway? Just do it!
Designer: But we already have the Faulcon deLacy design.
Boss: (in a rant) Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Do I bloody have to think of everything. Take the Faulcon Delacy ship and move it over to Core Dynamics. Call it the Condor. Because Condors are big and menacing. Then take the Lakon ship and rename it after a snake. No one will ever know its not Faulcon deLacy if its named after a snake.
Designer: But we have Lakon ships named after snakes too.
Boss: We do? No matter; our gamer's can't think for themselves anyway. Those damn space jockeys will believe anything you tell them. DO IT!
Designer: (reluctantly) Okay... (he exits the office) If this doesn't blow up the forums I don't know what will.
