The things that have left me scratching my head...

I put probably a couple hundred hours into JWE1 but after playing Planet Zoo and then JWE2 not seeming like enough of a step up to justify a purchase, I held off from playing this one until now (...now that I have gamepass).

I'm left baffled and wonder if there's been any feedback for Frontier on this before that they've responded to...So here's what I'm wondering as I dive into the game at this early stage: If a year of in-game time can pass, why are the scientists still stressed and overworked? I find it incredibly irritating that I have to babysit the staff. I have other things I want to focus on to try and get to the fun in the game and I don't want to have to tell someone to take a break if the work I had them do was from way back when. It's just wild to me that this is in the game as it is still. I heard JWE2, with its new speed options, lets you cut out some of the waiting around from the first game but it really doesn't.
Likewise, the amount of steps required of me when I transported a whole bunch of rabies infected dinos into my park this one time: Setting up a little station, send a jeep to the station to find out the dino is sick even though you already know from the dino's information, then take a photo of the dino to identify the sickness (if you havent discovered it already), then send a medical van to the station to interact with the dino. That van then drives back to the medical facility without doing anything to the dino, so then you have to get your helicopter to tranq the dino, and then a separate helicopter you have to activate and click on, to pick up the dino, then you have to click on the medical facility to transport the dino. But you can't use that same button from before for that helicopter to transport the dino back once its healed. No, instead you need to go into the medical buildings tab and select "move dino" to transport it back.

The amount of steps required in almost everything you do in this game is far far worse than any of the feeder micromanagement I had to do in the first game.

I also scratch my head about the fact that there's a dinosaur preview feature in the game that lets you look at all the skin/pattern options but not when you're in the genes page trying to make a decision about what to incubate. No in that screen you just have to hope for the best, if you haven't memorised a few favourites.

Anyway, I can list off a bunch of positives about JWE2 but sadly the negatives make me switch the game off. Also, remembering how fiercely the JWE fans can be, yes I know there's sandbox and no I have no interest in sandbox.

Personally I don’t really find this to be a problem at all, to let the scientists have their imposed rest takes up only about a couple of minutes of gameplay, if not slightly less if you speed up time. I find this to be a good time to evaluate what I need to do next for my park/facility.

It’s understandable why some may find this to be rather tedious, however I personally find the new way of discovering, researching and curing diseases is a rather fun step up from the previous game.

In JWE1, outside of the scripted missions, diseases were not a even a minor concern. The new diseases on the islands were all discovered and researched in the exact same monotonous manner. In this game, there’s more involvement you have to photograph or even have isolate the diseased dinosaurs and before being able to research the cure.
