General / Off-Topic The Train Thread

Dang, how the Soorweg Museum has changed in approx. 15 to 20 years! I visited it multiple times as a kid and from what I remember it was like 70% outdoors, with the locomotives and whatnot on the 'trainparkinglot' as I used to call it as a kid. It was very spacious but this pictures give me the feeling like everything is boxed in.

The pictures were taken on December 29, 2012. The largest part of the museum is still a large warehouse with a large indoor 'trainparkinglot'. I only selected a few pictures of trains that happen to have a wall next to them. [happy]

Great thread & great pics shared by everyone.

I've always been fascinated with the history & lore of this train--The 20th Century Ltd.

Always had a soft spot for the EMD F-units. Had a model of one as a kid, used to spend hours playing with that thing having to take it to bits to clean metal out of the motors because I used to clean the tracks with wire-wool (doh). Secretly still want to pickup a decent train set and setup a track [up].

Favorite train here in the UK is the Intercity 125, they always felt smooth, quiet and comfortable when I used to catch them from Exeter to Plymouth years back. The more modern trains were never as nice to travel in :(.

Hey, Jettuh, I remember you! Still going strong with Train Fever? [cool]
Those 3D prints are awesome! [up] i've been hoping I could print my Flirt one day.

Have you seen the new Virign Trains East Coast (Really the DfT) IEP's from Hitachi (Class 800)

My coolest train experience was riding the Shinkansen train between Tokyo and Kyoto in Japan two years ago. [hehe]
They go 350 km/h as fastest. What is the fastest train to this date?
