The Unknown, an Elite: Dangerous drabble by James Vigor
A hundred silver stars splash up from the dashboard and hover before me, waiting patiently. The sudden glare of the projector in my eyes doesn’t bother me anymore.
The ship tells me where I am. We all know this place, we’ve all been here.
And that’s just boring.
I turn and pick out another glowing orb. They say it’s far too dangerous to go there. I’d be mad. That’s perfect.
Selecting it, I lean forwards, easing the lever towards the void. Space shivers and splits at my bow, caving inwards and pulling me with it, into the unknown, into danger.
