Ships The Vulture Appreciation Thread

Am I missing something? I have been to Alpha Centauri, Hutton Orbital TWICE now in last 24 hours, and nothing is there!
The Internal components list in outfitting menu shows a little blue + sign beside my Power plant (I have A4 currently), but when I go buy and equip, all I can see is a list of class 2 and 3 power plants. The best one that is there for me is C3. There is no even a single class 4, not to mention A+.
Can anyone explain?? Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just so random?
I should add that I am Allied with Federation, it this matters and have a combat rank of Competent...

I believe you're being trolled. There are no special weapons/modules in ED aside from the new 1.3/PP ones that have been mentioned as I have seen. Even the old beta overcharged weapons/variants were removed long ago. There is no mention by Frontier or Veteran Members that lends any credibility here as far as I have seen and searched that some mysterious A+ PP exists. I have searched and searched and have only come across a few fleeting posts on this, mainly in this thread. I also brought that up in a previous post in this thread. IMO multiple users appear to be joking/collaborating (indirectly?) in an effort to make this appear real, while getting unsuspecting members to make an hour trip in SC to Hutton for nothing but their own amusement. I stand firm by this based on what I have investigated and the corroborating info you have provided from your trip to Hutton. I would welcome Veteran Members and/or a mod to clear this up.

Either I am wrong and in such case I accept whatever punishment for openly making this accusation, or there is in fact an attempt to troll members which is against forum rules as I understand I am happy to make this known and help other unsuspecting members. Given the confusion by many on this issue I ask that this be cleared up. Also with your corroboration that there is no A+ PP at Hutton, I am even more certain of this ruse right now.

I don't find it amusing if this has all been concocted for the purpose of misdirecting members to waste time resources on an hour long SC journey for nothing and ask for a mod to clear this up and evaluate if any forum rules have been broken if this is in fact the case.

OK, thanks for clarifying this. I would be nice to have 18MW power plant though, sigh...
Its weird how some people prefer to waste their time posting crap on forums instead of just enjoying their game time <- this one is about you trolls!

Nice fighting jou84, well done. And congrats to cmdr Wolfenstein for not running away. But that courier pilot, omg. I think he got too cocky seeing you in your wounded vulture. Hope he'll play it smarter next time.

I decided to take a long haul back to the starting systems to play with my 8 year old son who has been playing the game. Amazingly enough, he has amassed about 450k in credits on his own doing Bounties on various Nav Beacons, although he hasn't quite figured out the trading yet you have to give him props at 8 years old to play this game and be able to pretty much do what you need to do in the game to get around and be productive.

Anyways, he has been asking me to join him as a wing, so I took the long trip about 200ly from my current location to get to the systems that he has been hitting. I was not going to do that in my Vulture, as it would take way too long at tad over 12 ly per jump. I garaged my Vulture and bought a DE, and boy was it a dog... it got me there quick, but going from the Vulture to the DE was like going from a Ferarri to a Minivan. So, I traded that in for a DS. It is definitely no Vulture, but I must say, properly equipped, it is a fun little toy to tool around in and attack for bounties in RES, which I was doing with my son. Over a 15 to 20 minute period we dispatched about 200k in Bounties, but unfortunately, he got done in with his Sidewinder by a Python, despite the upgrades.

The point of the story, other than to brag about my son and how impressed I was to see an 8 year old play this game, is that the DS is not a bad little toy to tool around in if you want to try something new for a bit and change it up. Just don't trade in the godlike Vulture for it, as I miss my Vulture, direly, especially when going head to head with anything larger than a DE or Clipper. Just makes me APPRECIATE my Vulture all the more, and pun fully intended for the thread title.

Well this vulture sounds cool, i have a type 7 making my money and an Asp for touring next ship for my fleet will be a vulture to kill with. I think i will call it giggles.

That's the exact line up I have right now.

Also, My biggest gripe with the Vulture was it's limited range without stopping for fuel or a fuel scoop. Until Last night, that is: I found a 16t secondary fuel tank at Irtusk in Alioth system. It takes the place of the cargo bay, but I only use my Vulture for combat, anyway. So, yeah it is awesome.

Made a 100+ LY roundtrip, flew SC and combat for 2 hours and still made it back to my port with a quarter tank left.

In short, It greatly increased my combat effectiveness. If all you're using your Vulture for is combat I'd suggest picking one up.

A class 4 fuel scoop fills a Vulture tank in no time but if you prefer an extra fuel tank thats cool.

Well I use internal size 4 for a SCB and internal size 2 for fuel scoop. It takes some time to scoop full tank but i rather have bigger SCB.

I took on an fed assassination mission and got a fully kitted vulture just for it. The python target had a vulture wingmate. Should I have attacked the vulture first? Long story short, I got the python down to 70% while the vulture was taking potshots at me at which point I was disabled rather quickly. Kaboom. Fed rep down the drain.

Vulture's guns are too powerful to take the time to bring down that Python. Best to take out that Vulture wing first by aiming at its PowerPlant. NPCs clearly do are not as proficient at flying as players, so they fail to manuever well making them easy targets. When attacking an NPC Vulture, aiming at its powerplant with your C3 weapons will bring down the ship in about 10 shots to the Powerplant. Otherwise, it will take 3 times as long just to bring down the Vulture with unaimed shots. Then you can concentrate on the Python.

Learned that techique during CZ runs.

Every NPC Vulture I've encountered is useless. They try to maneuver for jousting runs and then just flay about with a turreted beam laser. These guys need to be far more dangerous.
