ANNOUNCEMENT The War Part II "This Time its Personal" - Timings

Phew, loads of bugs there. Players shooting at phantoms, me being shot by people I could not see, disconnects etc.

Saw more players than normal, which was good.

Got killed more often than not :)

Had the same issues, even saw Han Solo for about 30 seconds then he disappeared as I was about to do my bit for the Federation.

A good 40,000cr plus spent on ships with the testing out of The Surgeon.

Hope that Alpha 3.0 has a player only free for all mode and is a lot more stable so we can spend longer testing combat.

hmm yeah crashes a whole lot. Loads of people loosing connection when you start shooting at them. Also are people finding they get shot at by other players before they have a chance to pick a faction? I have a feeling this is because you are still appearing as enemy from the game before. I suspect people are logging out to go find other players too leaving a ghost behind quite a bit.

Yeah, sometimes it came back others it didn't, ticket raised just in case.

Isn't that the Star-field bug? It just leaves you staring at a Star Field. I get that all the time. I usually Ctrl-Alt-Delete to task manager because I'm too impatient to wait it out. Especially annoying if your sitting there with an Oculus Rift attached to your head!

Yep that sounds like it, that's what I've been having to do the Ctrl-Alt-Del thing. Had to lol at the Oculus Rift statement, can just imagine it :)

Thanks everybody who took part. Its going to be great when the Alpha bugs are squished!

Special thanks to Kroy and Gen-Han-Solo for making their Teamspeak channels available!

See you in Alpha 3 :)

Yep had some fun listening in with you guys (Federation side).
Sorry again for my Edward Scissorhands impersonation while typing away in a different chat :D
Playing was indeed not as many people as I expected but already much more than I had experienced in the last weeks.

Thanks for the people who set it up, specifically to the ones making their teamspeak servers available.

well I got some low quality Oculus Rift footage (I messed up my settings a bit last night) of something. I think I was fighting for the Empire, although not very effectively. Well done to Kerrash for taking me out twice and a couple of other confirmed kills in the video from other players.

Not too many crashes for me last night. But as Federation, I think I only saw one Empire commander the whole night. A bit strange.

it will be interesting to see how this kind of thing plays out in the final game. I expect we will see military missions we can participate in for a chosen faction. I suppose we will be able to travel from a nearby station, fight up to 31 other players in an instance, die go back to the station and continue fighting if we like until the campaign is over. At the end we might find out who 'won' and how that changes the political map based on the event.

I'll definitely try to be there. Kow - no technical issues will save you this time. ;)

They did.... in the end I got redded out, but the tally was 1 - 0 to you, I was caught unprepared and with my pants well and truly down :)

NEXT TIME!!!!!!!

:D

I think it would be fun to do this again, but in free for all. Then I can do what I do best: shoot at everyone, regardless of loyalty (or any perceived honour) ;)

The battle on Sunday was riddled with lag and (worse than that) too many Imp´s! Comparing to the week before, the experience was somewhat lessened by constant crashes of the client too. So generally it was problematic throughout.

When I first arrived there were 2 Fed´s and 5-6 Imp´s and I was being dealt some very heavy firepower, mostly by NPCs. Jenner was the first player to pop my ship with efficiency that can only be described as total ownage. After that i thought this was going to be a very one-sided battle. However it wasn´t too bad once there were more greens on my radar appearing. The battles were frantic, the explosions kept happening, and the enemy didn´t let up at all. It was a great experience but with the horrible lag and constant crashes of the client it was impossible to reach the continuity of the previous week. Perhaps that was because there were many more participants on Sunday then there was previously. There also seemed to be a lot more ships in my instance too.

The Anacondas seemed easier to pop and i destroyed 6 of them in total. Whenever i was attacking an Anaconda there was no lag, which is why I kept attacking them and comparing that with attacking players. Very strange indeed.

When Cmdr Psykokow said he was unable to continue that was the turning point for me. I tried to carry on for 10-15 minutes more but realising it was futile. Each time i logged back in all i saw was green blips, some of which were firing on me. This battle was not as long as the previous one, only lasting about an hour and 15-20 minutes before I decided to bail out.

It can only get better software wise. I hope you all took some great screenshots, made a few movies, and submitted tickets for bugs, etc. Thanks to all for taking part. May we have a lot more battles in future, and a lot more fun in doing so! :D

Agree with everything you put in this post(i had similar experience) frustrating at times but fun when stable, saw more commanders which was good.

and yes hopefully when more stable we can recreate more of these battles as its also fun its a great training ground to(and testing to of course!)

Funny at the beginning of Alpha when i was learning how to use the X52pro and just getting my head round all the differing systems/flying and nuances of the game, particularly FA off! i thought this was going to be a very very long learning curve
but delightfully(and understanding there still may be changes) FD have made it quite intuitive to pick up(with help/tips from members posts to)

Of course there are more parts of the game to come but the flying which is a big part for me has been great(a few tweaks here and there and it will be perfect)
See you out there Exaga, keep at it :)
