Interesting take, firing people at Christmas for setting up an advent calendar.
Incidentally, I think NPCs should start wearing shop paintjobs. Not only to add variety in civilised systems, but also as a subtle marketing promotion.
Or assassination missions and bounty lists should include a picture of the target's ship, with any distinctive paintjob. Nobody would want to be known as a dread pirate with a stock paintjob would they?

Federal and Imperial Navy ships with military and tactical paintjobs depending on their specific roles
Hauler taxis with black paintjobs
Wedding barges with fancy paintjobs
VIPs and celebs (read: assassination targets) with vibrant paintjobs

I have my Cobra MK4 Chrome paintjob and have it in use. I may have gotten the sidewinder one, but I have a few nice paintjobs for it already. Some people like flying the hauler as well as a taxi, why not do it in style.
I see it as excellent marketing actually. You market your product for people who don't own the game yet, showing that they are selling paintjobs to the first ships you will have may intice them to buy the game.

Perhaps FD took a look at their stats and figured out that these were the most popular ships? That would make it good marketing I suppose. For what it's worth I've bought two and I'm delighted with them. I'll probably get a third.
And I think Frontier are making quite a lot of money, actually.

That gives me an idea - I'd love if FD introduced an offline hangar, where we could see all our ships parked next to each other! Something like the VR main menu, which is just an Eagle and an SRV parked in a hangar next to each other.
What if OP is a high entitled 12 yr. old? And haulers made fun of him?? And then chrome killed his parents?
I just want an onionhead-on-graphite Imperial courier. And an onionhead bobblehead. And a Jeff Hanneman Urban Camo ESP Custom shop (also).

Funnily enough, I was thinking virtually the same thing; it would be nice to be able see our fleet lined up together to horizontally scroll through: "today, I will fly the... hauler".
And you don't want to make any sense. You are just absurd in thinking a company has a bad marketing, just because you don't like the order in which they release their products. In fact, I think FDev pretty much hits the mark with their chrome and wireframe babies.
It's catering to the many and not necessarily the biggies, that generates most revenue. I am sure FDev have all the statistics and numbers to back their sales strategy. The might be Sci-Fi geeks but they are not dumb.
When Legs is released, they should make that a thing, and hang a banner across the hangar reading "And you can really fly all of these!"
