Theory as to why the devs seem to hate the Velociraptor

I'm gunna come right out and say it: They're gunna try and sell us "Movie Raptor DLC". That's about the only reason I can imagine for why all the skins currently available suck so much.

Agreed. Some fine tin-foil-hattery, here. :D

Raptors are fine. They are amazing, have great animations, sounds and look the part, too.
The only reason you hate them, OP, is that you think they would deserve more vibrant colours. But that's something you will have to deal with, not the devs. :p

It's probably Universal saying what they can and cannot do with the look of the Velociraptor. Since the animals are all female, that might be a reason why they wouldn't want to add the male colour variants from Lost World and JP3 (even though they just added a green rex that looks like the male rex from Lost World).
And perhaps Universal doesn't want the raptors to look like Blue and such because those are specific characters instead of "just" another raptor.
That's why I think they haven't added any cooler skins.

But what I really don't understand is why the female JP3 raptor skin isn't an option in the game.

No no no ... no, i don't think they are made for a paid dlc as their skin patterns are probably not compatible with the movie ones. I personally believe that the person that was in charge of designing the velociraptor patterns for this game just hates raptors and wants to see them die hahaha, he or she may be in league with the dark one ( a.k.a Gallimimus the fourth ).

I bet a hundred bucks that there will be an update or DLC with all the cool skins of movies!

I know that because Paul Crowther told me.

Illuminati confirmed

We'll buy it. Heck, we're waiting for it. And this next part I say not as a demanding fan but someone who only wants to throw love and money at this game for the rest of my life- If you're going to do it, you need to do it soon. Unofficial modders are rushing to fill that niche. If you release a paid movie skin pack now, people will snatch that up. But after this mod tool takes off (and it will; "life finds a way," as people have already quipped), there are going to be skins all over the place for free. Now, I don't know the details so I can only calls 'em like I sees 'em, but the smart move would be to do the movie pack as soon as possible, then let the modders do non-officially sanctioned skins based on things other than the copyrighted material you're sworn to protect.

Its just sad that they are essentially one color. Even the ones in Jurassic Park weren't one color:

Predators usually have spots or color makeups that break up their silhouettes, like the stripes on Tigers, the Spots on Leopards, wolves have bands of color. The Raptor in Jurassic Park has counter shading and blotches of darker bands/spots. Obviously The Lost World's male raptors have black and orange stripes like a Tiger. I just want something like that, it would look a whole lot better.

To me the counter shading is the most important thing here. It is kind of a look that just screams "Raptor!". Just some small changes to the skins and they would be great. Right now the only one that is even close is Vivid. They are so much lower quality than any other animal in the game.

Frontier do not hate the Velociraptor. The bland skins that have been made available for them so far are there to lower the bar so far down so that when 'Movie Skins' packs are inevitably released, you'll be frenzied and anxiously willing to pay well above what the actual value should be. It's called conditioning.

Remember, $60 was the listed price for this game at launch, and $50 of that was probably paying to just have the models/assets/sounds of a major license.

I could probably make a good case if I felt like it for why Frontier/Universal don't seem to care a whole lot for most species in JWE, and I'm not talking skins here.
