There are some real good guys around here

If anyone should hate us, it'd be the mods TJ. I'm actually pleased by how blurred the line is here with the mods. There's TJ the Mod and TJ the Poster and we know which is which.

I would not have his poster on my wall... He comes from Norfolk y'know! ;)

On a more serious note, thank you Oddball for your kind words and, I agree that the forums here are the best I've been in for a long time. There's great humour and friendship here which is unusual on t'internet nowadays (I'll avoid the 'when I were a lad' type stuff if I can ;) )

I too have been on the receiving end of kindness etc and it's amazing what has happened on these forums on many occasions... Kind of restores your faith in humanity... :)

I'll shut up now before I become a quivering emotional wreck and start spouting and gushing a la Gwynnie at the Oscars! ;):D

Well we are all here waiting for the same thing, and we all have a passion for elite. Some of us have differences in opinion but that is oKay!

For the gun toting camel alone, you deserve it..... !
Can't remember who bought it, but I sincerely hope it is framed and on a wall somewhere.
If FD have any sense they will include it as a poster option in the store!
Enjoy Alpha Oddball. It looks phenomenal on the you tube vids.

So, what you're basically saying, Oddball, is that if I had actually contributed somewhat to the ongoing discussions and been a valid and valued member of the forum community instead of being, ya know, me, I could have saved a shedload of money getting into the alpha?

It seems that is how things have turned out but I can assure you that I had no idea that people would be so kind.

I think it was the kickstarter really and the fact that everyone mucked in to spread the word because we just wanted it to be a success. We had a good laugh really and everyone seemed to get on very well.

Anyway, the game is happening! I still can't believe it. I have to pinch myself now and then to make sure I'm not dreaming.

A game is only as good as the community that supports it.

Other than the odd one or two people, no pun intended to the OP, this is one of the more mature and level headed forums I have been on.

People here aren't just generous with their wallets. There's a generosity of spirit on the forum. The number of talented people here willing to spend the time producing great artwork or putting together podcast shows is just incredible.

It's rubbing off on me an' all. I used to be the sort of bad-tempered old curmudgeon that yelled at kids to get off his lawn. Visiting this forum has made me a better person.

So instead of yelling at them youre just creeping them out now, by being nice? :D

Oh, and on topic I have to agree that this is a remarkable place to post, with a great community spirit. The creativity and dedication of many people here is phenomenal, as is the generosity of many with their time, skills and money. Having been on the receiving end of all sorts of generosity over the past year I still struggle to express just how grateful I am to be here.

However, awesome though everyone is, we're also all bloody nuts and right curmudgeony at times, and the hard grafting of the mods cannot go understated! Without their work the whole place might have collapsed in flames many months ago, so well done to them for keeping the structure intact and enabling such a grand community to flourish.

Darren I would whole heartedly agree. The mods here are some of the best I've run into in my 19 yrs of online gaming. I've had interaction with several of them including Ashley, who I've found to be amazing helpful people. I thank all of the mods and the community manager here, thank you. :D

Alpha 2.0 will probably bring a lot of new people to the forums, as they see all the videos on Youtube and the reports from around the web. That gives the people who turned up during Alpha One a real chance to be the good guys, with their patience tested by seeing their questions asked over again by the new crop.

If the last paragraph describes you, please be patient with the new newbies. They'll have to put up with it just the same when the beta rolls round ;)

I think its a good community that reflects the level of maturity of the games audience. Well as mature as you can get with computer games players! Certainly a few people here helped me back into good spirits when I started getting a little bit despondant during that long middle phase of the Kickstarter.

Absolutely agree nats, the maturity of the forum does make it a very nice place to hang out.

With the potential influx of new posters they should feel welcome and quickly become a part of this great community.

Obviously, oss is excluded from the first part of that. :D

Sniff... I... I'm filling up....

This thread is pure...

As Young Mr Grace used to say:
