There needs to be a credit sink

I wish they would do a redenomination at some point, just for esthetic reasons. Just slash everything by a factor of 1000 (player assets, ship prices, mission payouts), except the starter ships (so that a Sidewinder doesn't cost 32c lol), fines and bounties, old commodity prices and fuel and integrity repair costs.

The fact that everyone and their mother is now a billionaire is just horseplay, might as well sell the game to Disney and put everyone in Mickey Mouse ships, at least then it will be coherent.

If you want to talk money sinks, then implement real maintenance and crew costs for big ships so that players need to think and put them to good use, not just cruise around in them. Too many rear admirals lounging around in their skivvies acting all upset about their jus primae noctis on the whole galaxy.

Give squadrons a squadron bank, that is used to buy things purely for squadrons. You can add as much as you like to the bank, without needing to actually buy anything.

It's essentially a way to throw away money, while also have some use when the squadron decides to buy something.

Of course, it'd probably help if squadrons could buy a lot of different things, and maybe multiple of them (mega ship trade fleet anyone?).

I like that idea, and I think it would be at least a partial solution to the problem. Groups of players with modest amounts of cash could get together and buy expensive stuff that's usable by anyone in the squadron (including carriers, asteroid bases, planetary bases etc), and very wealthy players could do the same with single-person squadrons.

It's ideas like this that make me "need" to mine void opals.
What if my "normal" gameplay - which doesn't make "billions per minute" ( ;-) ) hinders me from being able to afford the bases / carriers down the line?
I'll never be able to get these additions whilst the billionaire club just "sink" their money instantly.

Fill your boots / make hay whilst the sun shines and all that!

Perhaps we should get an End Game first.

Right now, all you folks with fleets of G5-Engineered-A-Rated Corvettes and Cutters out there are only Mid-Game.

All of us who have Been There, Done That, Bought and Delivered the Tee-Shirts, we're just Mid-game.

Those of you who have done everything so many times they only thing you know to do with yourselves is inflict yourself on someone else - yep, you're Mid-Game too.

But, if you're looking for ways to simply blow credits - I've said it before, I'll say it again: We Need Casinos.

Crappy odds, high payouts - rare modules you cannot obtain any other way, except to win... then we'll all be broke again.

This casino thing could work out if done right. I played Test Drive Unlimited 2 and you could go to an island casino. You could play poker, slots, roulette, etc., against other players. If you could walk outside your ship and have the casino in an open instance for everyone to enter, it might be a great way to allow for socializing with other players you would never meet otherwise. It was a fun way to get to meet players just for fun.

So YES to the End Game!

Casinos would be awesome! 100k to gamble, see what pays.
