There won't be any Storage in this update

Stop that , you're misrepresenting the complaints people have in this thread. The lack of storage doesn't make things harder, it makes things tedious. There's a world of difference between challenge and tedium.
Being willing to deal with clusmy mechanics in a video game you're supposed to enjoy isn't skill or intelligence, so please drop the 'whole dumbing down' attitude.

well said Jukelo!

Which brings you to MMOs and cool-down times.

Without that: everything can be measured in play hours. Some people will have thousands of play hours. Some "casual" people will have merely hundreds.

Unless you have a more useful idea that can meet or match players needs overall... yep

I liked it how it was.

Frankly, the dumbing down of engineers and this outrage over lack of storage I find kind of sad. If anything I think engineering mods should be made harder.

What's the point of engineers if everyone has a fully modded corvette? Why not just sell the modules with those attributes?

Good idea, and then introduce real crafting.

And yes, that was tongue in cheek.

Exactly right

I love this game, I really do. And I respect too much Fdevs for giving them advice on how to do their job.

But I have to say it with all honesty and respect in the world, your game is quickly becoming a design mess, I dare to say almost a disaster. It started small, and now the knots are coming to the hairbrush harder and harder, every update makes things worse and playing becomes more and more tedious.

Fix powerplay, fix missions, fix the bugs, fix the weapons, fix combat logging and add the basics, like storage in this case before adding new mechanics and stuff to the game that will stay broken along everything else for months. I couldn't care less to have a new fancy wheel on my car if I can barely even start the engine in the morning.

So just to round that up then, no more cargo needed for mods-right ? Instead of collecting one 'Material' at a time they are increasing that to 5 also, correct ? Anything I have missed regarding the changes please chaps ?

You still need cargo for mods. Turns out that commodities not being listed in their spreadsheet was an example of poor communication rather than an intelligent design decision.

Yep keep it in.. but be damned if you will ever get another cent from me. I got ED as it was a space sim not an MMO RPG and you are trying to make it a MMO RPG the random roll drop crap is a joke and no way to store stuff is a joke.. I stopped playing after paying a full game price for an addon that was slim in content I thought I might give it 6 months to see if you get my $80 worth of content some time down the track.. but judging the expansion vs the original game as I payed the same price for both has left me feeling ripped off I have not enjoyed any of the new content at all but still love flying around exploring space and killing other ships all stuff I could do in the original game.. only difference is now i Have to fight NPC's with modded ships.. and to compete on the same level i have to spend hours farming crap with random drop rates.. all my big ships and 500 mil in the bank are sitting collecting dust as the grind to make them worth the risk to take into combat is not fun its far from it!.. IF i could roll back to pre Horizons I would in a heart beat just so I can play my way not this crap MMO RPG grind crap.

L.O.L. thank you 'Arrichion', now why do I find that very funny then, I kinda thought that some 'cargo' material requirements was ok for mods and had a hull full already, yes it makes me a target for interdiction's but not so much when I moved from my Python doing the mod quest to the Corvette, now I am left alone mostly....I wonder why.:D
Still cannot be bothered to go to level 5 mods when my level 4 mods are doing so well, even with just one roll I have got mostly good rolls and I only roll the low cost mods constantly to get from level 2 to 3 in quick time and spend a little time with getting to level 4 but not much.

Well I won't miss this, largely because I haven't used it yet.. and I typically just sell those weird cargo items anyways. It's only been recently that I've even starting making upgrades and haven't progressed any beyond 2nd rank, but this will improve the upgrading process.

However... I have been "At Capacity", with 1000/1000 materials in my Materials Holding Compartment, or where ever those things are stored, for quite some time. And while it's not really an issue for me to dump a stack of materials I have a lot of, in favor of something new, useful, or simply need more of, it would be great if we had a means to sell off, trade or utilize these things for something more than just Engineer upgrades, to make them a little more valuable - or we had a means of converting them either into a cargo commodity that could then be sold or traded normally, and of course, a means to reverse that process as well.

For example, if I happen to have, as is not entirely uncommon, 100 iron stored away converting 100 iron into 1 1-ton Iron commodity, or by reverse, converting a 1-ton Iron commodity into 100 Iron Materials.
This would allow for more mission variety, more trade opportunity, and make these materials more useful to everyone.

How so? Let's say you're a miner who has just landed at some small outpost that is trying to grow. In addition to the usual missions, being able to do this would now allow for missions like:

Outpost Needs 2 Tons of Iron or Outpost Needs 4 tons of Niobium

So you set off to track this stuff down, perhaps in the case of Niobium, in an SRV across the planet's surface, hunting for Chondrides or Meteroites to locate these. After gathering 400 Niobium you then convert them into standard Cargo, which can then be exchanged to complete the mission, gaining Rep++, Inf++, Credits, and helping the outpost grow.

And more importantly, it helps empty out your Material Storage in a more useful manner than simply jettisoning this stuff out into space.

Or on the flip side, you know you're going deep into space, far from civilization, perhaps to the opposite side of the galaxy itself, so before heading out you pick up a couple 1-ton Cargo containers of Arsenic, Niobium, Yttrium and Polonium, knowing these materials can be used to generate much further FDS jumps than normal, so that you can not only make the trip out, but back, in considerably less time by converting these into 100 Materials each.

FD, please prioritize addition of commodity and module storage ahead of any and all new features like passenger missions. Don't get me wrong, I would love those new features. But like many have stated, I am also locked in to my ship now. I refuse to sell commodities I worked hard for in game. I need a place to put them! I can't buy new ships or fly around in small ships because I have too much cargo. I can't go to a RES and have some mindless fun because I am locked in my cutter. So entire gameplay options (fun combat) is locked out for me.

The current state of the game is simply broken without addressing this problem. It will be good to get an official acknowledgment that the dev team is aware of this problem and if you could communicate what the priority for fixing this will be.

Just so you know that sheet just showed the material changes to the blueprints. You'll still need commodities for rank 2 and above, they just weren't included in that sheet because that hasn't changed.

To be clear:

We haven't removed commodities!

Please don't sell all your hard earned commodities...

Station storage or RIOTS

I am with you Anthar!

so glad I am not into engineers...
those commodities are the BANE of Engineer Metagrind.

in.the.end.nothing.important.has.changed

well done FD

[wacky][wacko][???][cry]

with riots I mean something like this:

Why not implement a choice in the shipyard when changing the ship to keep the cargo and the limpets in the ship. So commodities could be stored and everybody is able to use his other ships that have no or not enough cargo-space.

IF its true that there are still upwards of 100 people working on ED, I really hope something like storage vs new missions is not an either/or scenario ;)
