There's no going back, is there?

I play my exploration account on monitor because the galaxy map is too hard to use on VR. The others I play in VR. Love the SRV on a planet surface.

I find the galaxy map pretty easy to use now that I have sorted my key bindings out. Could be worth having a look at them again.

That is the main reason I am very hesitant to go the VR route.

I am also wondering what will happen when walking around is implemented. I don't want to get sick. And I don't want to have to switch back to monitor for walking around all the time.

So it is better for me not to get used to VR.

Dont know if anyone else agrees but I have used a DK2 since early on and this is one title, even though a lot of movement I never feel remotely sick. However Dirt Rally - i was chucking within seconds.

Honestly, I hope fd has a fit of common sense and realise walking or "legs" is a BAD IDEA.
If you going to spend all those resources on a dubious feature.
FIX EVERYTHING ELSE FIRST.

I just got a HDK 2 up and running but then had to send it back to fix the tracking camera.

I've played elite minimum 4 times a week since I bought it when the HDK went I had a near 2 week break. just not the same on a screen.

There is no match to VR compared to flat screen. Yeah sure I do sometimes miss the crispness/sharpness of high res flat but that is where it all ends. In VR you are literally IN the pilot's seat. From the cozy sportiness of the Cobra, to the large bridge of the Anaconda, to the giant picture window of the Asp. Can't come close. The sheer SCALE of ships, planets, everything. I just can't get over it. Whenever I'm poking around in the SRV and recall the Anaconda: I just can't get over the awesomeness of seeing a 152 meter vessel jumping in, coming to a hover with engines flaring, watching the giant gear drop and a puff of surface dust lifts as YOUR ship lands gently in front of you. So cool. This is stuff I dreamed about in the 1980's as I played the original Elite. And here it is. We are playing it today. Mind blown.

I got Elite 3 days after my DK2 arrived. Only once have I tried to play the flat game... I couldn't even make it out of a station. My first (and so far only) Sag A* trip was on the DK2, due to the CV1 delays, but my Jacques trip was CV1... what a difference that made!

Well I went back. Reason is I had a DK2 - and developed neck problems from having that heavy weight on my head (headset + headphones). Actually I think my chair and posture also added to the problem but whatever. I'm now back on monitor. I'm thinking about maybe getting a CV1 though. I hear it's lighter, has headphones built in and is a better resolution + refresh rate :). I won't have the £500 until January though :(.

Go back? Impossible. The Matrix has you... or something.

I actually can't fly without VR - I hit everything. With VR it's so easy to throw a SLF or my FDL around an asteroid, bare meters away from the surface, I don't even have to think about it. I tried doing that without VR and quickly became terminally intimate with a chunk of ice.

Since the latest patch I have played exclusively with my DK2, the world is so much bigger. I didn't even realize my Python had a co-pilot seat. I am loving it. Oh I did have to make some adjustments to get VR comfortable like I had to buy non-progressive glasses with smaller frame, got a double wall coffee cup from Starbucks with a straw (careful of that first sip) then finally I had to point a fan at my head so my glasses stay cool and don't fog up. Its the little things that matter most.

Reason the last patch changed things for me is Passenger missions can be done completely in-game unlike trade missions that require taking the hat off to look at EDDB, once I do that twice in 15min its back to flatscreen world for me.
