A while ago I was musing about how Efficient thermal vent beams didn't cool as well as beams with Overcharged. Someone answered that the degree of cooling thermal vent offers is controlled by damage output.
Does anyone know if the effect is tied to a weapons base damage, or damage done to target, adjusting for damage fall-off? I've noticed that the cooling effect is greatest at close range, but that could be caused by improved targeting, not damage output.
I'm going to put long range on beams to test it, but I'm curious if anyone knows before I waste the materials.
