Why should you get something additional to do something you find fun? Isn't your fun enough incentive for you?

After all, right now you have the choice of 'fun' or 'max efficiency'.

If you find yourself choosing 'max efficiency' over 'fun' all the time, perhaps you need to re-evaluate what you define as 'fun'.

Do I? You never did studied psychology, aren't you?

In which case any bonus would require to be awarded to PvP encounters (if it was to be properly targeted).

However, remembering PowerPlay collusion piracy, those can be subject to players colluding together to gain the reward without the challenge.

No, targeted would be zero cost rebuys and no cargo losses. Even not that.
This is a difficulty setting which modifies playstyle and creates zones of increased risk. Latter I propose to be targeted directly.

Study? As in earned a degree? No.

I took what I needed in order to finish school.

And again, if you need some kind of incentive to do what you claim is 'fun' for you, perhaps you need to redefine what you find 'fun'.

Both goal and the way to it in games is what called gameplay. And I do not belive I have to chose. In a game. That makes your question invalid.
And in before more nonsense, intermidiate goals are still goals.

I do understand that if this would be done, both PvP and PvE people will have to chose. But if done right, their choices will be of the same weight.

Yes. You do have to choose.

You have many choices.

In open, you can run a balanced ship that MIGHT have a chance of escaping an attack, and take longer to accomplish some goal

-or-

In open, you can run an engineered ship that should successfully escape an attack, and take a bit longer to accomplish that same goal

-or-

In open you can run a min/maxxed cargo/passenger ship and take less time to accomplish your goal, but have no change of escaping an attack.

-or-

in PG/Solo you can run a min/maxed cargo/passenger ship and take less time to accomplish some goal

And, again, if what you find 'fun' isn't enough incentive to get you to play the way you enjoy...

No again here. Goal is same fun as progression to it.
And you just described why exactly this have to be done. Increased difficulty should be scored higher. Or the are no reasons to switch it on.

Same with thargoids btw.

Actualy, it will become exactly the same as with thargoids, at around 1% bonus for Open.
While thargoid "assassinations" do pay higher, you will get money faster with usual ones.

In case you missed Roberts post, here you go

On PvP vs PvE
We listen to both sides. While it's true that the PvP crowd do tend to be more vocal and in previous betas have given more organised feedback, we're well aware that the majority of players don't get involved in PvP. A few changes here are more focused on one or the other (torpedoes have no real place in PvE at the moment for starters), but overall I think they promote variety of loadouts in both styles of play, and will make both more fun. On a personal note: I play more or less entirely in PvE, so if anything my bias in favour of that ;).
