Horizons They Broke the SRV

Since resolving issues logging related to the patch, when you do a jump in the SRV it does a slow pitch-up into the vertical just enough to land on your head. I thought it was hard to control and worked and worked to master the damn thing. Now what gives. I'm in my second year of
Elite and always mused at the complainers and ers. I guess I have to officially join them.

It might just be an issue with your joystick dead zone. Try increasing the dead-zone and see if the SRV continues to rotate. Also, unplug and reconnect your controller to "zero" all of its axes. Frequently one of the joysticks on my HOTAS (an X-56) will stick just slightly in any direction and my ship will drift. Simply "stirring" the controls often solves this problem. o7

????

I recently did quite a few full-burn vertical thrusts in the SRV trying to snag mats in near orbit above the fumaroles @ Actaea in Sol, 14-15m vertical height in near zero grav, never had a pitch forward problem. Never snagged the mats, either, as they would vanish before getting low enough. Landings were usually on all six wheels. I was launching from a standstill on relatively level terrain .

In other situations, such as bugging out after getting Wanted from a Private Beacon scan, I frequently use the SRV thrusters to speed up my retreat and leap the larger boulders, and while my boosts aren't as long or high then, no untoward pitching occurs unless I launch from an already-pitched forward orientation like traveling downhill. Even then it's not extreme.

What kind of jumps are you making?

PS. My Actaea jumps made with FA both on and off.

It didn't exhibit that kind of imbalance when I was taking photos like this .....

But I use FA-Off .... could that be a problem with your set up? FA-On ?

Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate the help. It felt like the game was fighting me getting on with the new patch. Again, appreciation.

My SRV thrusters suddenly cut out for no apparent reason tonight. The assigned HOTAS button is OK, as I was able to reconfirm its assignment in Controls. A reboot via the Main Menu did not fix it, hopefully tomorrow when I restart from the Launcher I'll have no issues. I certainly hope this is not indicative of an SRV bug, I use it a great deal and not having thrusters would be a major setback.

Humnn.. I don't use the thrusters much but ever since the upgrade that made the joystick throttle disable keyboard thrust commands, I have had issues with every keyboard command I have bound to my SRV controls.
I have ALL my SVR controls bound to the keys on the number pad except the fire buttons and the analog throttle.

One of the issues is that sometimes when I press the key for thrust, I don't get any.

Sometimes I press my key for turning and I don't turn. This seems to happen most when I try to turn with a key command right after I have done some course correction using the joystick. It is as if the game gets locked to the joystick analog control and I have to use some key not bound to anything the joystick analog controls are bound to, to get the game to start recognizing the keyboard controls again.

PITA!!
Wonder if the OP is trying to use a combination of keyboard(digital) controls and the joystick (analog controls)??

As of today my SRV thruster is confirmed as completely non-operational, broken, busted, and unrecoverable, it seems. I have bound half a dozen HOTAS buttons or keys to the function, all of which on other functions work perfectly well, but my thruster will not fire. I am reporting it as a bug, since there is no hardware problem indicated, and it seems there are other general issues cropping up. It's very sad because I rely on my SRV for many of my most lucrative missions, and not being able to jump the buggy lames it significantly, let alone that it can in some instances be fatal.

As I said, i don't do a lot of jumping, but when I try I want it to do it and be under control.

This is a link to a rather long video I have made of what I have done that seems to have my SRV working right. Maybe it will give you some ideas.

YMMV Good Luck.

---------------------------------------------EDIT-------------------------------

Ok, In the video I moved the Joystick Steering to the YAW axis and that did help some. BUT, the final solution for me was to remove all steering control from the joystick. that means the ONLY signals the game is getting for SRV steering are digital and now I have had no hangups or stutters when using the digital steering controls for nearly 3 hours of game play.

It looks to me like if you want to reliably use a digital control, it cannot be bound to a joystick analog control.

I appreciate the thought, D.D., but my SRV was working absolutely fine until it wasn't. It isn't a matter of configuration, or tweaking, or anything else. My thruster simply does not work, regardless of which button or key is mapped to it.

Related general question: Does the Thruster have a slot in the SRV's Modules screen? Because if so, mine is missing, which may a symptom of the problem. I've never really looked at SRV modules except to check the Chassis condition, so I can't say if not having one for the Thruster is normal.

I think you need to go buy a new SRV.. I remember reading a thread someplace about someones guns quitting and they ended up just selling the one they had and buying a new one. Hope you are not too far out in the middle of nowhere.

Replacing the SRV did work, thrusters on the new one are A-OK. However, on its maiden voyage I decided to check the modules list and -- there was no modules list. Completely empty. That's not as cosmetic as it sounds because I like to check module Integrity, etc., now and then.

Glad to hear things seem to be fixed. I have NOT yet had any issues, and have been doing about 6 hrs/day in the SRV every day this week, but will keep my eyes open.

Next day out on the new SRV, the modules list was present, but it did not include a Thruster entry, which I find weird, as it is a module on ships. In any case, no probs so far with the replacement go-buggy, did 5 PSJs yesterday without incident. I have my game set up to monitor in case it cuts out again, per FDev's request.

Thanks for letting us know.... always nice to hear a problem solved.
