They fixed the gameplay pace/time issue!

I've just seen this in the beta bug report list site: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/4977

149305

I haven't seen them addressing the issue directly even once, and now they apparently fixed this, and no one seems to be talking about it.

I guess I make this thread as an appreciation thread for the game developers and Frontiers in general.

They are awesome and deserve all the credit. On a similar note, you guys should check out the bug report page. They fixed almost all the confirmed bugs from the beta. I seriously can't recall such good relations between game developers and their communities in recent memory, or game developers being so attentive to their fandom.

Can't wait for the game!!

I'm carefully excited. I'm still a bit afraid that they say "fixed" because they think that no fix is needed. On the other hand I highly doubt that, since they clearly showed already how sensetive and responsive they are to feedback and the time issue was HUGE. I'm just afraid to build my hope up way too fast.

Oh well :/

But like Swjosdotschka said, they have been extremely responsive and sensitive until know, so I count on them that they will deliver, even if they didn't change the time directly :)

perhaps they "fixed" it using other means of balancing the gameplay?

There isn’t really any other way to fix it other than giving animals unrealistic lifespans. One way or another, once those X years pass, your animals will die. I’m going to go ahead and say they probably did not change the time speed. Otherwise they would gladly have said they did to get praise from the fans. But doing the usual “we can’t confirm or deny x” means they haven’t done what the community wants and if they said it, they would get backlash. Really dissapointed in their lack of actual responses to this issue, even when we got this close.

Interestingly, for forever the issue in the bug reports was the only issue with the status "confirmed" but not acknowledged. I may be too optiimistic but i think they have done at least something if they bothered to change the status in the log where ever yforum member can see and not in their personal development issue logger.

Yeah, it was set as fixed, but Paul went out of his way to clarify that that doesn’t mean it’s actually fixed. To me this means he saw a potential “disappointment” situation where the fans wrongfully got hyped because it was fixed, when in reality it was not, and then that would cause backlash when the realized the truth. It’s how PR works in today’s age sadly. If they had changed it, after most of the fanbase was complaining about it, they would have taken pride in it and announced it like they announced the breeding changes.

Hi everyone, we've just got some more information on this topic from dev! As you can imagine with Planet Zoo, animal lifespans and breeding play a critical role in many aspects of the simulation so it's something that we consider very carefully when addressing feedback. The issue has been marked as Fixed because for launch, the team have made a number of balancing tweaks and changes, specifically to animal lifespan and breeding, in an effort to address the Beta feedback.

Thank you for all of your constructive comments so far; we can't wait for Tuesday.

Looks like we’re getting 500 year old galapagos tortoises now boys
Step in the right direction. Now that animals can supposedly live longer they can just change the speed of the time counter to match that, and not need to balance anything else. With that, they will have effectively changed the time speed, and we would all be happy with one variable changed.

I'm curious to see how these tweaks turn out (I thought slowest mode should have been fastest mode) but I appreciate that our concern was listened to and taken into account. The speed factor was probably my biggest issue with the game and the one that would reduce my interest in playing if it was not addressed. I am hopeful that the right balance has been reached and if additional tweaks need to be made, they will be post release. Appreciate the hard work!

I really hope that it will NOT take hours (real time) to breed animals and to be able to accomplish things. I also hope that these tweaks and balances are not at the cost of the game being challenging. I really hope that the changes don't make the game long, drawn out, and boring.

My personal opinion is that nothing should have changed in these regards until after the release of the game because we did not get to experience every aspect of the game.

That's what the double fast forward button is for. If the base rate is now slower (which hopefully it is) that will allow people to enjoy their zoos for a little while without all the animals dying right away, and the people who don't fall into that category (like us) will still be able to speed up time beyond that rate.

In my opinion, giving more players more ways to play is only a good thing. Saying "my way to play is the only correct one" is selfish, even if it is the subjectively correct opinion.

WHO wants to play the game on 'double fast forward'?????? I can see there being a need or a desire to do so once in a while but the same could be said about those who don't want to use the 'pause' button once in while.

The franchise mode is NOT, nor should it be made to be, the mode to 'enjoy the animals'! The franchise mode is, should be, the mode to deal with the challenging aspects of the game! PERIOD!

And animals dying right away????? If your animals were dying right away you were doing something wrong! I didn't have that problem.

All game modes should be the mode to “enjoy the animals” because that’s the entire point of playing a “Zoo” game... If you don’t like that, then I seriously recommend finding another challenging game that doesn’t have animals in it. The entire point of this game is the animals. Everything else is built around that fact. Animals are the main focus of the game, and the other stuff is extra to add to it. The good news is that you can in fact enjoy a good challenge while enjoying the animals, without needing them to die fast.

So you obviously have forgotten that part of the selling points of the game was that it was going to be/have challenges. The franchise mode is clearly and obviously the mode for that aspect of the game. If you want to 'enjoy the animals' there are at least TWO other modes for that purpose.

The game, especially the franchise mode, is ultimately a management game. A game where you play the part of Zoo Director. Where you are faced with decisions and issues. By slowing the game down you take those aspects away from the game. At the very least you diminish those aspects.

Furthermore, how much time is anyone really going to spend or need watching these cartoon animals run through the same loops over and over and over again? How 'attached' to these animal loops is anyone really going to get? I'm just being realistic.
