They have botched this update so bad that i wonder if it will end the game

The store thing is a terrible shame TBH. If they would have made things actually realistically achievable with ARX then perhaps it might have encouraged players to play the game more but they haven't, they have been greedy which is an absolute shame as far as I am concerned and will actually damage the game not improve it. This game is not a console game, its not a Roblox game or Minecraft it is Elite Dangerous, a game for people who don't like crappy games! Wake up FD, you have a wonderful game which so many people love and adore but you are systematically destroying it with these console like updates ! Im sorry but I had to get this off my chest now!

I have a console BTW a wii u and its for playing mario kart!

I have to say, that from my perspective this is pretty much how i feel.

I think splashing the store all over the place (when are we going to see adverts for ship kits / skins on the station hoardings?) is horrible, it smacks of greed or desperation, neither of which I really believe are what FD intend for this game or indeed need, they are a profitable company by all accounts. All they needed to do was make a good game and people would have thrown money at them...

While I have no problem with them trying to make the game more noob friendly, I'm genuinely surprised it was that necessary. I'm an old guy, play very few computer games, and yet I picked it up without too much angst, and frankly, they've made the game easier and easier over time anyway. Again, not an objection, just don't really see that it's that difficult, although I accept they will have metrics, so no doubt they felt it was necessary.

My enthusiasm for the game's direction has certainly waned (and this update, with the glaring emphasis on trying to get people to spend more money and very questionable quality elsewhere has only made that feeling worse), and that's fine, I've played a lot, but I really do wish they'd make just a little effort to expand what's already there. It's dispiriting to think that after five years, every assassination mission will entail destroying exactly the same NPC, that every planetary scan will be one of only two possible types of outpost... It's all very well getting noobs to stick around, but ultimately they are going to want more variety of things to do in the game I suspect.

I've found FD's Q&A department.

I am astounded by how poor this update is. Latest for me is that I cannot use any pinned blueprints. I try and navigate and lose the cursor/highlighted item. To get out of this I have to go to 4 > engineers or an other option that takes you back to the initial docked menu.

I really couldn't give a about store or arx tbh. This sounds like they've reverted to an agile model - "Hey let's provide a minimum viable product and we'll fix it as we go along". Problem is, for me right now, it isn't even minimal viability if I can't do the basic things I used to do pre patch.

I agree with this. Fortnite In Space is not the game I originally bought into. What's next, season passes and loot boxes?

Move the store from inside the game and put it in the main menu where it belongs. Even Fortnite is smart enough not to put "STORE" interfaces on island itself!

OP:
Giving players the option to earn/buy in game currency (ARX in this case) so they can purchase in game cosmetic enhancements (vanity purchases not pay to win purchases ) is not "milking the players" in fact it is giving players more choice, more diversity.

And, higher real-world pricing, if previous experience with the gaming industry is to be relied on.

Well, it's not perfect, but I actually played it a bit, and it's not bad either, give it some time and they will correct it.
my problems is the gameplay issues like pressing (J) to star jump a million times (yes exaggerated) just to get around, HOWEVER the super cruise assist is GREAT so maybe we will get there one day.

As a console player I resent this. The elite dangerous store is 100% a ported PC feature. On console we didnt have it till late 2016, over a year after the initial launch, and until just this week the store was sort of a half-baked feature which didn't work half the time.

I must be missing something.

I logged on with my main account after the update, carried on exploring as I meander back toward the bubble. Didn't notice any change in the gameplay at all. I logged in with my alt last night, ran some missions, did some trading, and fought in the local cz. Didn't notice any change in the gameplay at all. There does seem to have been one small change - instead of the simple blue Disengage message for dropping from supercruise, it now includes 'press x'. Oh, and there's a store button now. Sounds like an awful lot of Chickenlittlery to me.

The forum undead are just restless as they can hear the sounds of merriment but never take part.

it still is a half baked feature, that is probably the only thing that is left working after this weeks update broke everything else.

Its a cash grab designed to conceal the real cost of purchased items. A scam. In any other industry this kind of scam would very likely be prosecuted.

They obviously dont have their A team working on elite and this update seems to indicate that they are trying to milk the players for what cash they can get.
Have they screwed it up so bad that it would cost more money to fix it than they think its worth?

Are you quitting today? If the answer is no then the answer is no.

Hey question, does someone think they can draw up a plan for FDev for an efficient way to play test every new feature of a patch with every existing feature and every combination of features/situations of the game, to catch every bug? Go ahead, we’ll wait.
