The store thing is a terrible shame TBH. If they would have made things actually realistically achievable with ARX then perhaps it might have encouraged players to play the game more but they haven't, they have been greedy which is an absolute shame as far as I am concerned and will actually damage the game not improve it. This game is not a console game, its not a Roblox game or Minecraft it is Elite Dangerous, a game for people who don't like crappy games! Wake up FD, you have a wonderful game which so many people love and adore but you are systematically destroying it with these console like updates ! Im sorry but I had to get this off my chest now!
I have a console BTW a wii u and its for playing mario kart!
I have to say, that from my perspective this is pretty much how i feel.
I think splashing the store all over the place (when are we going to see adverts for ship kits / skins on the station hoardings?) is horrible, it smacks of greed or desperation, neither of which I really believe are what FD intend for this game or indeed need, they are a profitable company by all accounts. All they needed to do was make a good game and people would have thrown money at them...
While I have no problem with them trying to make the game more noob friendly, I'm genuinely surprised it was that necessary. I'm an old guy, play very few computer games, and yet I picked it up without too much angst, and frankly, they've made the game easier and easier over time anyway. Again, not an objection, just don't really see that it's that difficult, although I accept they will have metrics, so no doubt they felt it was necessary.
My enthusiasm for the game's direction has certainly waned (and this update, with the glaring emphasis on trying to get people to spend more money and very questionable quality elsewhere has only made that feeling worse), and that's fine, I've played a lot, but I really do wish they'd make just a little effort to expand what's already there. It's dispiriting to think that after five years, every assassination mission will entail destroying exactly the same NPC, that every planetary scan will be one of only two possible types of outpost... It's all very well getting noobs to stick around, but ultimately they are going to want more variety of things to do in the game I suspect.
