Things needed for Passenger ships

If any and all ships can be modified to do any and all the various available loadouts, and apprently to some degree they all can. What is the purpose of catorgoizing them such as fighter, multipurpose, passenger etc etc etc. With the exception of appearence, why would anyone thinks a cruse liner can be converted into a battle ship; Or visa versa. I mean they are two specially designed different ships with entirely different purposes and objectives.

Only in movies like MAD MAX for instance can one find a volkswagon bettle, completly reconfigured and actully perform like a tank. I mean who buys a lambo with the expectaions of using it as a family car?

The purpose of categorizing them (for combat, cargo, passenger) is they are supposed to excel in one area.

The Corvette, for instance, can out-fight an Anaconda, but not carry as much or jump as far.
The Vulture can out-fight a Cobra III or IV, but not carry as much or jump as far

The Type-7 can outhaul a fighter or multi-role of similar size, but can't fight for crap.

The problem is that passenger ships don't actually excel in their role... which is why I made this thread.

I can actually summarize it with the following:

Removing all cargo-centric craft drastically impacts how people play as freight captains.
Removing all combat-centric craft would result in an online riot over how badly combat changed.
Removing all passenger-centric craft would result in no impact at all to doing passenger missions.

Hate to bust your bubble. I've made more money with a beluga running 1st class and luxury missions than all other ships i've owned since week one of games release. No weapons, no slf. Just a 6a prismatic shield with the usual thruster and fsd upgrades.
Of 4 bases of the three different major factions of which I'm allied with all minor factions. I get luxury missions all the time, prolly cuz at least 3 or 4 are always in a boom state at one of them. That's the only base I fly the beluga out of.
:) Fly the passenger ships as they were designed, play the bgs to amplify the chance at better missions. Passenger ships are not freighters, combat ships or multirole for a reason. I managed to own the big four after getting one. Beluga, T-10, Cutter, Corvette.
Feel free to bash the beluga tho, so many do, it always brings a smile to my face.
Never owned a dolphin or an orca. I hear they the bomb.

Again, you use "luxury missions" in your argument.
Those don't show up with reliability until well after you establish your passenger routes -usually with something other than a passenger ship, since the passenger ships don't get you the highest passenger count and thus don't let you do missions in the most efficient manner.

When you are building your fleet starting from the beginning of the game, you buy an Asp-X for long-range missions and a T-6 for bulk passengers.
you only get a Dolphin if you like the looks, if you role-play, or if you have established a route and are getting reliable luxury offers.
