Things to actually do in ED?

Piracy: Yeah I could do that, but that just turns everything into a hazres and is such a pita with the new C&P system :)

Thargoids: I'm actually a thargoid friend, they've never doen anything but scan my ship :) And those burning stations are quite cool to see. Tried lighting one up by myself, but lots of ships start coming after you and the station actuals fires back (sheesh!) :D

Visit every star in the galaxy: OK, can do. One down, couple to go :)

I've played with a few wings, but BGS is basically doing the same things like flying data missions, pew-pew conflict zones, and bounty hunting. Only ow you get to hear 10-12 year olds screeching in the mic half the night :))))) ghehehehe

This is not a poop thread. Seriously interested in hearing how people spend their time when they have bought all their ships and no longer need more credits.

Paint-jobs: Yeah, pretty much this... have a bunch, and those shiny skins last week didn't help the wallet much either :)

Still my favorite painjob for the krait/asp/python

I'm in a similar boat, OP. Have you checked out Thargoid bases yet? There's also listening posts to guide you to little audio log stories. That's what I've been doing.

I am currently exploring. At the moment I may have encountered a stellar phenomena. I am trying to see if things will align, and if they do I may have found something worth talking about. However, just the pursuit is proving to be fun.

I'm currently working on guardian weapons so I take seek revenge on the one Thargoid that destroyed my FDL.

However, I can't tell them apart, and they don't communicate, so I'll just keep going until I'm sure I got him.

However, I've hit a few speed bumps... 1, none of the weapons come in gimballed form, and I'm utterly useless with fixed. And 2, I've only solved 1 puzzle and I'm already bored.

Learning fixed weapons on a budget Xbox one gamepad will be my next challenge...

This thread is where I'm at.

I have 10 ships all of which I enjoy flying and each one has specific purposes. I'm at ~120M in the bank with all ships engineered to varying degrees. Three or four I rarely fly like the Conda and FDL. I do combat in my FGS and Krait (because of SLF).

There are things I should do but don't have the motivation atm to do them. For example, I have no desire now to do Guardian stuff. (fwiw, I did not do any Engineering stuff until a year or more after its release; but now I have several unlocked to the max and regularly visit them for new stuff)

I've never tried to do neutron jumps; not sure I want to.
I'm still novice at combat but I am gradually building my skills.
I've mined rings and will probably do some mining in the future with all the new tools.
I don't like surface prospecting very much so I only do that when I absolutely have to.

Right now I just stumble around doing passenger and haulage missions to keep building my bank account up.
I'm contemplating flying back out to Orion / Running Man Nebulas to do some surface prospecting (which I could do where I'm at now). ... but that's the dilemma, what do I really want to spend time doing. The furthest I've been out is the Lagoon Nebula (to do the Palin thing). I'm hoping the new exploration tools will drive me to go further into the black.

To make things more interesting while waiting for new features and content, I continually set short term goals. The most recent was to set up a forward base in the Pleiades by moving 3 or 4 of my favorite ships there. Another goal is to get the bank account up to 150M and buy a second Krait for exploration. I have a Clipper and Conda set up for exploration but the Coriolis tools tell me I can get close to 50Ly jump in a properly fitted out Krait. ...so there's a goal I can look forward to achieving and maybe then I'll head out to the Running Man and maybe further.

Sorry for the disjointed rambling post.
Disclaimer: I've played since early access, a few months before beta, I have close to 2k hours in the game. I only do solo (atm).

There is a lot of different activities to do in the game. The stumbling block is you have to step outside of your comfort zone and actually attempt some of them. Things that might seem boring or mundane like mining or deep black exploration might turn out otherwise. If not, well at least you can cross them off your bucket list and never have to do them again.

I love the idea of the game, I love all the ships and outfitting. Right now I have 500M in the bank, all the ships I want and all the modules engineered to levels where they are acceptable to me for the purpose I use them for. But there lies the problem: what to use it for.

While I was grinding for resources I used my Asp, Orca and now Krait.

Flew passenger missions in my conda when they had the 100M/hour trips.

Flew my iEagle and iCourier with data missions in those 1-hop systems to rank up in both Empire and Federation.

Flew the FDL and Vette for combat missions when I was in a wing and to unlock the engineers.

Now that they are engineered and I no longer need materials, I'm kind of pressed on what to do next. I sold my Cutter as I have rebought that thing three times now just to have it but had it sitting in some station's storage locker. I have the conda, vette, T10, sold the Cutter and Beluga and have 12-15 smaller ships that I like to fly.

Combat: I'm not into PVP, too many hassles and egoes. Repetetive as heck.

Bounty hunting: Hunting in hazres or conflict zones with a Vette or FDL isn't that challenging so gets tedious after a few hundred kills. I don't need the money either.

Exploring: Tried it, jumped out the window screaming. I live on the ground floor so that didn't even hurt. So tedious: same planets every system. Don't need the credits and have my name on a few hundred ELW, WW and Neutrons already.

Engineering: Mostly done for the ships I think of as keepers. So basically no need for resource gathering anymore.

Power-Play: Yeah... No!

BGS: Yeah... nah. No longer in a wing, so pointless.

Mining: Please kill me now!

What do you guys do when you have all the ships and all the money so there's nothing left to grind for?

I try to entertain myself, goodness FD don't seem to want to do it.

I do missions and have all the ships so I get to choose, which I'm going in for what rubbish is offered. I get to use my ships!

I explore locally when inspired.

I check into the bgs on occasion.

I move between bases, I made with various ships and loadouts that inspire different modes of play.

It's hard being entertained in elite, it takes a lot of thinking, reasearch and effort outside th game.

Good luck with that cmdr.

I hear you guys about nothing to do - on XBOX I own every ship and I'm double Elite, and then I nearly did it all again on the PC.

But I have two good suggestions.

#1 - Go Sight Seeing.

CMDR Evolution has an awesome spreadsheet which you can sort by distance from Sol - Try visiting the closest 100!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iFmq8GWAG77CaYnH0iguLOrwTL5aA-bi7lGKdzrz4RE

#2 - Hook up with so friends and try new stuff.

My personal favorite was canyon jumping in SRVs, but canyon racing in SLFs is a lot of fun too.

Good luck and Fly Safe!

Well... I just started re-logging, periodically, for my trip to Saggy A. It's taken me a month to get where I'm at now (~8000Klys from Sag A) and I might swing by Colonia on my way back to the bubble. It's taken me a month or so to get where I'm am because the travel is sooooo tedious and I'm trying to use the NS highway. I can only get about an hour in, using the NSH, before I want to run into my frig head first; doing normal jumps are worse, I want to throw myself off a nearby highway/train overpass into traffic/train. At least using the NSH is more challenging and breaks up the monotony.

I've:
1. killed a few Goids (Scout & Medusa).
2. ranked up to Rear Admiral for the Feds to get a Covette.
3. unlocked all of the notable engineers.
4. unlocked a few of the Guardian tech I wanted.
5. been to a couple of barnacle, crashed Anaconda and Guardian sites.
6. done quite a few of the CGs, though, I don't anymore.
7. was in a PMF for a very short while but didn't like it too much. (It wasn't the group itself, just not much to do but the same grind.)
8. integrated VoiceAttack, EDDI, LEA Extended Input, and StatusDisplay to my game play. (Had more fun with this than playing the game.)
9. engaged in forum PVP. :D
10. completed 100's of first discoveries.
11. [Edit] PVP/piracy/bounty hunting

I still have to:
1. make elite in a trade. (Pending - Exploration))
2. complete trip to Sag A. (Pending, triggers #1)
3. use the BGS & PP (Might do this next if I can find a good/friendly PMF. I pledged to the Feds but never did anything with it.)
4. Buy and sell an Anaconda (Vette fan! But will try it out for S&G). :D
5. New - unlock Guardian fighters.
6. New/ish - experience mega-ship interactions and new Guardian structures.
7. Visit brain-tree site, colliding moons system, etc.

I'm not a "ship" person and only own a choice few that I like to use. Ships are supposed to be tools not the content.

Things to actually do, piracy, smuggling, bounty hunting, res farming, mining, eradicate aliens, trade, explore, (not much of one but really enjoyed my trip to colonia an back) any of the missions in the mission board, and transport passangers. Yea some of these things can be improved and changed *cough* Piracy *cough*

Sorry that youre not interested in a lot of it.

After doing the cash cows to earn enough creds to buy my own system, the thing that keeps me playing is my passion for sci fi, and space. Everytime i load elite I set a small goal and see what happens from there. Today it was gather some mats to engineer my MC's, things came up, I got distracted, and had a good time. The devs are adding and refining content, even if its small, but any is welcome.

Join up with a community to do powerplay and BGS. Doing them on your own blows, but if you're working with huge numbers of friends, and contribute to the strategies, it's quite engaging! Most of the major PP groups have discord servers associated with them.

I would rather be slapped in the face with a wet salmon than touch the abomination formerly known as Powerplay. Thats where the dev lunacy started.

Frontier is moving to mini games. Instead of filling their amazing universe, they are just giving you new ways to interact with the lack of it, via vicarious play.

Q4 has gone from content addition to minigame with binoculars. We aren't supposed to interact. There is no desire to add more life and enagement. Just observe it from afar. This is their roadmap now.

Welcome to after-next. Next2
