Hey everyone, sorry if my english isn't perfect, I wanted to talk about something I didn't see yet and that is a bit related to ships interiors.
When I went for the first time in a station at Odyssey launch, I was so happy to finally be able to talk to people, walk to different services instead of having to look at them on a screen. I saw the bar and I wanted to sit somewhere! But there was not possibility to interact with chairs. So I talked to the barman to maybe order a drink but he only existed for the resources farm. It seems that there is no interaction that aren't a part of the gameplay loop.
And to me that's a problem. Because in every open world multiplayer game, there is places where there is nothing useful to do but where you can have fun with people. For example when you play Monster Hunter, you can have a lot of fun by not doing any mission and just taking a beer with friends and dancing in the multiplayer room. In any mmorpg you can stop at a city and discuss with your guild at a tavern. Without this, it's a whole part of the immersion that goes away. And immersion has a very important place in Elite Dangerous.
In short, I think it would be nice to just add simple interactions with the world that aren't part of the main gameplay. I talk about siting on chairs, have some emotes, etc...
Now to link this subject with ship interiors. Frontier said they didn't want to create them because it wouldn't serve the gameplay loop. It confirm that they did everything in Odyssey with that in mind and that's why we don't have any interaction that only serve the immersion. People responded that there is a LOT of gameplay ideas with ships interiors and I agree with them. But more than that, even without gameplay, ship interiors would be so good for the immersion. Teleporting inside/out of your ship totally breaks the immersion, opening/closing the doors of your ship and walking outside/inside would be so much better.
They think walking inside our ship frequently would be boring. Excuse me but if it was boring to us, we wouldn't play Elite Dangerous, the game where you have to make a dock request each time you enter a station, the game where you have to sometimes travel for a very long time.
In addition to that, the optional interactions I talked earlier would fit perfectly with ship interiors. Imagine stopping your ship in the middle of space and go with your multi-crew friends in a room where you could discuss or party! Or running after someone to punch it because he did sh*t with the modules. The fun doesnt necessary need to be part of the main gameplay, sometimes the players can create it by themselves if you give them the tools to.
Thanks for reading me and fly safe
