Things to get done before 3.0 drops

To make it back to the bubble before it hits or soon after anyways, before I re-engineer all my ships all over again since are going to be as good as the new rolls will be which sucks...

Got every engineer that I could to grade 5 (no love for the 2 that requires 50 data, plus Lori Jameson for that I don't have the combat rank), bought some ships that I may want to fly someday and modded the essentials for them (FSD, DDT, shield, armour, a few weapons and SBs).

After that, I played a few sessions with the Naphtha megaship in my DBX (never did it before), moved around 5 new ships to Jameson, transfered also my Python there and prepared it for the great material hunt of 3.0.

Now I'm waiting and planning the next moves for 3.0 launch. First I will go to the Naphtha class trader and collect everything until I'm full of most of the mats I can find there (class 3A collector and probably around 190 limpets). Find a nearby material trader and balance the mats, maybe do another round of Naphtha afterwards (or Dav's Hope, who knows - never did this also before). Next, it's either some barnacles shooting or a famine system with a wake scanner. Maybe even some SRV prospecting on 1-2 planets and some high grade emissions search (all categories). Next some RES sites / combat zones in my Corvette with limpets. I may end up mining without a refinery, for mats only, to fill the 300 limit for the grade 1 mats, exchange them to grade 2-3, repeat a few times.

Only after I will be full of mats of all grades, I will went to the long road of modifying all of my ships to max grade 5 + effects. At that point, I may look for a couple of systems for missions, any kind of quick ones to become allied and use them also for mats gathering. After all, I got all my CIFs and MEFs and Exquisite FCs only through missions, doing most of the gold rushes that were in fashion at the time.

I'm sitting on 4 billions in cash and have most of the essential ships in the game, so at least money won't be a problem. I want to do some experimental builds and play with them, but it's a long way until then, especially since my time dedicated to the game is limited.

I made sure I had all the G5 FSDs I wanted, all the G5 Boosters I wanted, all the G5 multi-cannons I wanted and even engineered some G5 low heat Focused PAs in case the fix for those is not as good as grandfathered PAs.

I was going to do a few things, but most of what I want to do re 3.0 becomes easier after it drops.

I dropped into a Distribution centre this morning for a while. After spending over 30 min scanning wakes, I had found a grand total of... 2 DWEs :(

For me ... "How to Use an Engineer 101" as after all my reading I still think I'm clueless on this feature ... oh I got the first two unlocked and some stuff modified but I'm still not sure I understand what I'm doing ... but, I continue to learn ...

Earn enough (what's enough?) credits to not want for something I need (always two rebuys, Para) ....

Built and Engineered a Corvette to G5 and a Exploration Anaconda to G5 for DW2 done, but I still need to build a FAS and G5 that before it drops. When is it rumoured to be coming?

Rumors have a spread from today (!) to early March, but the most sensible estimates have a couple of weeks after Beta closure to allow for X-box and PS to come online at the same time.

  • Clear out as much of my module storage as possible.
  • Collect enough materials for as many G5 Increased Range FSD as possible.
  • Buy enough FSD modules for all my ships and store them.
  • Take a Beluga to Granny Felicity.
  • Call over the FSDs.
  • Roll for G5 Increased range on all of them by switching them out.
  • Go back to Jameson Memorial.
  • Call back the FSDs.
  • Fit them onto all my ships.

It's all about using grandfathering to reduce the total number of materials used to max them out once Beyond 3.0 lands.

FYI, it took over 400 rolls to max out my Chieftain in beta. That is simply far too many, so I'm engineering now to reduce that to a manageable number.

I am definitely seeing more commanders in the Engineer systems !

You know, I hadn't given that any thought but you're probably right. I, too, have noticed an uptick in busyness in Engineer systems. Just last night, there was a queue forming in Wyrd to visit McQuinn.

Mostly just by doing one-roll G5 CD5/DD5 mod's to all the thrusters on all the ships I don't really rely on.

I've also bought, and modded, a couple of extra modules for my T9 miner, in readiness for the T9 changes.

I should probably also make the effort to get my Corvette (or, at least, it's modules) around all the engineers to get everything G5'd prior to 3.0.

All this is being slightly hampered by the fact that I'm currently carting around 700-odd G5 mat's and 400-odd G5 data and only keeping the bare-minimum of low-tier mat's for immediate use.

You forgot the most obvious. G5 DD engine upgrades. You won't be able to get a 140% engine with 30% heat efficiency when 3.0 lands. The lowest you can go is 60% with the heat reduction experimental.

Pretty much just waiting. My material storage has been capped for awhile. I actually had to start getting rid of common elements like Iron, Phosphorus, Sulfur, etc. Last I checked, I had enough rolls for over 60 Overcharged 5 modes just from working on DD5 on all my ships. I've got stuff covered for just about everything, but some grinding will be required because they did increase Grades for a few recipes.

One thing I've been looking forward to doing is stockpiling 50-100 of each Heat Sink synthesis component so I'll never have to worry about running out of heat sinks with a single launcher out in the black.

Shouldn't take too much time to upgrade my ships. I'll just pick up the most important recipes and pin them with my AspX. Material farming on the otherhand, that's going to be a pita. Going to have to be very careful hunting Chemical Manipulators to max out all my FSDs.

I'm not doing anything in particular that I won't be doing in 3.0. I'm at 98% Trader Broker, so it'll be nice to level that up in the next day or two. I'm about to go up from Chief Petty Officer to whatever is next so again, nice to rank that up. Right now I'm generally running Fed transport/haulage missions around Tun, although I'm currently docked in Deciat after boosting my FSD...only grade 3, didn't have the mats.

In Open. In a shield-less T7. Reg: PIR8ME: Name: The Sitting Duck

Been doing this for a few weeks and not one single bit of meta. Disappointed. :)

...not play... and then after 3.0 drops... probably continuing with that... :)

My real/main/only hope is 3.3 (& the payable DLC) brings in some content that will interest me...

I suspect a huge number of people who are playing though, are simply doing single G5 rolls on as many modules as possible and storing them...

Scary!
