Things to get done before 3.0 drops

I've G5'd DD's and FSD's in 8 ships and some extras for a future Corvette, Chieftain, and Krait.

I'll mess with the new system on one of my other accounts and see for myself if I wasted my time... and if the new system isn't so bad, I might clear my main account and start over... if I get bored. ;)

I'm currently making some money to buy a Chieftain.

I'm planning on logging out for a while.
They'll continue to make changes post launch so I'll check out the game again when 3.2 is ready.

Making coin and engineering my current ships in prep for 3.0. Planning on getting deep into the black shortly after and nailing the triple Elite.

I bought and engineered a T9 already. I might buy a T7 if I can come up with a reason to, but I really can't at the moment. I might also review all my ships and see if there are any glaring errors or corrections I want to make. Otherwise, I'll probably just take a short break and play some other games I've been neglecting.

I am doing this: watching how the Empress and Mahon are choping up the human bubble, while the Thargoids sit in the Pleiades acquiring taste of munching humy-pods.

Nothing really. I'm looking forward to the new version, but I don't feel a pressing need to do anything before it goes live. I played the beta and am glad to see that the few issues I found have been addressed (according an FD post). Mostly, I'm waiting for non-beige planets, since I'm off exploring.

I tested it in Beta 3 as well and it was too sluggish for my liking. Not sure if it got a buff after that.
The Chieftain is a cool looking ship, but I'm not sure it has a place in my fleet. I'm much more interesting in the Type-9 buff; it was already a good trade ship, but with the extra cargo space, I think it will be a great ship for trade CGs.

The Chieftain looks great, but if you're not really into combat then it's not much use as it's a pure combat ship. It's good news for combat orientated players though.

I played around with one also and really have no use for it. If I were to get another medium combat ship, it'd be one of the Federal ships. The FAS is basically a clone, but more agile, durable, and a smaller target. If using an FAS against Thargoids gives you pause, just imagine how useful the Chieftain will be against them. More than likely I'd opt for an FDS.

As for it's ability to perma-boost.... most ships will be able to do that in 3.0 with the changes. It's possible they'll be adding a recourse timer on boosting to curb that for balance anyway. Sandro said that's something they're planning to address. I was having fun perma-boosting my Vette. C'est la vie.

They should add a lingering heat build-up to boosts that last longer than the boost effect and get added cumulatively to any future boosts. So you may be able to perma-boost but only with an increasingly dire heat build-up. Choice and consequence instead of hard caps and timers.

Can always burn heat sinks when you need to boost, boost, boost. Or just take the heat damage when the alternative would be getting smoked by a pursuing Medusa.

I've upgraded everything to grade 5, even if its a poor role, at at least when the update hits, the transfer will mean I go to Max Grade 4.

I've ditched all my Grade 1,2 and 3 materials and Data and maxed out on Grade 4 and 5 instead. Ready for the trading down fest.

3 Billion in the bank for new stuff.

I can't play it now after playing the beta. The beta spoiled me :) Gonna wait till it drops.....anyhoo I've got Kingdom Come Deliverance to play.
