Horizons Thinking about exploing for a bit...

Since I will sooner or later need to get 5000 Ly for Palin I've been thinking about making a jaunt. I've got an ASP scout and a an FAS.(20 Ly jump range in combat trim). I've only done a it of short range exploring with my DBS... A trip to the coal sack I believe. Any suggestions for a good trip?

And California Nebula. Also Fine Ring looks good on pictures.

You can do a nice circle and end it at Betelgeuse. That's usually my personal "last stop before going back to the bubble"

I'm just coming back from a Heart and Soul Nebulae expedition at them moment. Interesting enough but not two of the most spectacular nebulae. They are close together (300-400LY's) and both small enough to get around in quite quickly. The light in them is quite good for some holiday photos.

I'll be posting a report (and pictures) in my weekly update to the Travelogue at the end of this week if you're interested:

I have to do this soon too. But I plan on crashing my ship for the return journey to get me back to the bubble via my escape pod. I don't think I can stomach a 10K lyr round trip.

I'm on my way back from Sagittarius A* right now. According to my screenshots folder I arrived there on May 17, it has taken me this long and I'm still about 9,000 light years out.

There was quite a lot of scanning neutron stars and black holes at one point but now I've had enough and I'm going as fast as I can manage. I can make 1,000 light years in about 45 minutes, assuming a 31 light year max jump, including fuel scooping. Longer if it turns out there's something worth seeing in a system.

I'll stop for earthlike worlds and things like Herbig stars (strange, rotate extremely fast) and other unusual ones. If somebody else has tagged a star I'll go and tag a planet in that system to show I was there. But there aren't a lot of tagged systems this far out. Just pristine emptiness.

if you want to tackle the 5000 ly, i recommend doing a tour via eta carina nebula, statue of liberty nebula to the hypergiant x carinae (one of the most beautifull hypergiants ingame).
