Wasn't John one of the winners to be in the advert? Is that where you met him? Gotta say, the full-fat Th13teen ad, (with the girl being overcome by the tree roots), not the family viewing version, is just brilliant. I just wish the ride was as creepy as the advert. Still love it though. It's a good fun ride.
On that opening day, we were lucky enough to get stuck on the ride in the crypt during a breakdown. We'd already been on it a couple of times and it was the end of the day. We were stuck in the crypt for ages in the dark with nothing but the eery lighting and creepy soundtrack. It was building up the tension before the drop, which I was loving but one of my friends, who hates anything horror themed was starting to have a bit of an episode. That only added to my joy. Then the lights came on and a woman came out of a hidden door to explain the breakdown and that the track was about to go down. I made out that it was my first time on the ride and she'd ruined the surprise for me and I'd been following the development from the first announcement and had been avoiding spoilers. She was falling over herself apologizing for ruining my day, bless her. As the track was slowly lowered down I shouted to her that I was winding her up and It was my 3rd go on it. It was proper coaster candy though. With the lights on you could see all the details in there and as the track didn't free fall but was lowered down slowly, you could see the way the section that goes down fits perfectly into the floor of the crypt as if the floorboards gave way. Kudos to the Towers. You'd never normally see that as it's pretty dark. As soon as we hit the basement, it carried on as normal. When we got back to the station, I asked if we could stay on as we didn't get a proper ride. The park was now closed so they said yes. The people who wanted to get off did and then we went round again.
It was getting dark by the time we got back to the main entrance. So we went back to the hotel and got hammered. What a great day. The next day we were straight on Nemesis first thing. It a great way to clear your head after more lager, vodka and gin than should be legal
