It was the best VR game when it add support for VR but after spend some hours this weekend the game is out for me. I have uninstall it.
Okay I'll bite, and I'll take this at face value and try to offer a helpful response:
- Fly trough any system is tedious. It has no sense. You spend hours and hours flying around any system where planets are about 10 minutes away in many cases.
There are a lot of systems in this game, many of which have planets and starports that are very far from the entry point, but just as many where the starport is practically on top of the main star. Learning which systems are optimal for quick missions is part of developing game knowledge - learning which systems to avoid if you don't have time etc... Rather helpfully now, the mission text tells you the distance to your destination port, but there are still ways you can get caught out. As others have said, space is big and one of the appeals of Elite for me is the 1:1 scale; to me it is fascinating the amount of time it takes to get places in this game at several times the speed of light. I guess it's not for everyone, but I personally don't hold the distances against the game at all.
- Refuel is terrible, the speed of refueling is horrible.
As others have said, it really sounds like you've got a lower class fuel scoop fitted. Generally speaking A-rated scoops in the largest class optional slot on any given ship scales very well with the size of the fuel tank, so the best thing to do is go fit the largest A-rated one you can and you'll find refuelling much faster.
- Missions ended stupidly when you aproach a hub and suddenly witthout any second to react you are hit down. Do not understand at all. No time to negotiate a bill or something, just hundreds of shots firing at you and you are end after four or five hours flying around to try to end an eternal mission.
This depends on the mission you've taken. To me it sounds like you've taken a kill mission that spawns a mission signal source in space, which can take a long time to spawn in the current build (hopefully fixed in the upcoming chapter 4 update with persistent signal sources). It also sounds like that mission got you Wanted and you got scanned on returning to the starport to hand it in, which got you fired upon and killed.
You need to keep in mind that any illegal missions will require some tactics on your part to avoid being scanned by the authorities. There are various methods:
- Be very fast into the docking bay
- Request docking very late
- Be allied with the controlling faction (they scan you less if they like you)
- Watch for a gap in the authority ship patrols around the starport
- Use silent running and heat sinks to prevent automatic targeting and make the authority ships have to come within 1km to be able to scan you.
Of course you can always check the mission text and make sure not to take any illegal missions.
Horrible boring. The game has ended for me. It is a pity because I love the VR support but I cant suffer anymore the slowness of this game, and in VR a game must be minutes, not hours.
Bye bye Elite. Let's try another things.
This one I'm not going to entertain. Games take differing amounts of time and you either need to accept that or not. Sounds like not - hope you find a game that you enjoy and gives you the hit you're looking for.
