This game is so dead...

Have you tried the Krait. The ship that takes over where the Python leaves off. I went back into my Python the other day and realized how lacking it is compared to the agility of the Krait. Mind you, it benefits from engineering, of course. (Both ships respond well to engineering tweaks.)
Yes, I've tried it. My only issue was that it was a bit on the squishy side (unengineered vs some other unenginerred options). The GSB has largely resolved that, though I wasn't opposed to using it outside of CGs before unlocking it.

I'm actually very similar, I just have more tolerance for trying out things I don't normally do.
My issue isn't things I don't normally do as opposed to things I don't do because I've tried them and decided I do not like them.

The end result is I enjoy being way out in the middle of nowhere exploring listening to HP Lovecraft audio books, and I'll happily take trade missions just for a change. I only found out by doing the engineers. Mining's not my thing though.
I found out these things prior to the engineers. And that might be what makes it so annoying to me: I'd already sought everything the engineers require but because I didn't do enough of it after finding it wasn't enjoyable for me the game slaps me in the face and says, "Sucks to be you!"

Sure, they're 1 time unlocks, but like ranking all over again the game decides the multiple hours I played my way don't mean jack squat.

"Poor guy. The Alzheimer finally got him. He's been sitting in his ship for three days straight doing pre-flight checks over and over and over."

That's not a bad thing to suffer from while playing ED, at least it means you can avoid the feeling of repetition and deja vu ;)

What an odd post.

YOU HAVE ENTERED A LARGE ROOM .... THERE ARE STRANGE CONVERSATIONS .... THEY ARE DISCUSSING DEATH AND DOOM .... THEY ARE SPEAKING OF THE DEAD .... YOUR ENERGY LEVELS ARE DEPLETING .... THERE IS NO EXIT VISIBLE

FIRST I CHECK THE BOOKSHELF FOR ANY BOOKS THAT GO "CLICK"

That's probably because it's a cinematic trailer.

Sure. Sure.

But as far as cinematic trailers go, it's in the upper decile as far as deception goes.

And most games do ingame footage trailers now. Which are less dishonest. Sometimes.
Stretching the truth is okay for a trailer. Making stuff up like in ED one ? Not so much.

IMO only fools put trust in cinematic trailer. But ED one is still a case study in deliberate misrepresentation.

Generaly, if I see a large missmatch between online review/gameplay footage and cinematic its a < do not buy > signal.
(Because to me it means that the company feels not confident enough in their product to sell it honestly*). Now if the
reviews are really good, it overrides it.

*Deliberate lie is a do not buy / do not vote for signal for me in general.
