This game is so frustrating sometimes...

Here's my day so far trying to enjoy this game on my day off as I try to do some bounty hunting.

1. Can't buy certain parts I want at this station. OK.

2. Can't outfit certain parts in storage. Have to wait for transfer. OK

3. I have a bounty because I clipped someone YESTERDAY. I need to find an interstellar factor. OK Google how to find interstellar factor.

4. Docking request denied. Docking request denied. Google. OK. Relog

5. I'm notorious. I can't pay my fine.

I was playing solo yesterday when I clipped someone just as they were about to blow up.

OK, what do I do now?

I have no problem with stations not carrying all of the modules, but there should be a module market interface just like the galactic trade interface - showing you, according to your established market network, what can be bought, where.

We also need a better storage interface - one that allows us to sort by module type and location.

As a matter of fact, we should have the same thing for outfitting. A table that lists all purchasable modules, and allows sorting by type, stat, class, etc. Options can be greyed out for various reasons, be they wrong slot type, wrong class, with a little icon explaining why.

3. I have a bounty because I clipped someone YESTERDAY. I need to find an interstellar factor. OK Google how to find interstellar factor.

First - interstellar factors have been a part of this game for a long time, even prior to C&P. They were used to hand in bounties and bonds, pay fines etc. It has been... what... a year since their scope was expanded for C&P purposes. They have always been located in Low Sex systems, and with C&P were expanded to be included in all Anarchy Systems as well. Frankly you ought to know how to use them by now.

You can click on a bounty for a basic description, but the text is wrong, stating "You can pay the fine at an interstellar factor contact at any location...". Instead, it should read "You can pay the bounty at an Interstellar Factor Contact in any Low Security or Anarchy location..."

5. I'm notorious. I can't pay my fine.

Stop speeding and wait for your notoriety to decrease. The only time you should ever gain a bounty or notoriety is when you choose to do so.

Something similar happened to me while defending an installation. I was only "wanted" at that installation though... nowhere else in the system.

I just did some missions and BH till the notoriety wore off then paid the bounty.

You can use INARA to find the module that you need at the nearest station to you and find the nearest IF.

I agree but I got notoriety for nothing but one stray shot. I was surprised.

Anyway, I left the game on and went for dinner. Came back a few hours later and my notoriety is cleared and I was able to pay the fine.

While Inara is without doubt helpful, I find it veeeeryyyy annoying to have to rely on an external source in so many circumstances. Ingame would be much better...

Ageed. I had to use inara the other day to find a module I knew I had but couldn't remember what ship I stuck it on. Inara's module filter function is so fast and intuitive there's no reason why it can't be this way in game. And if inara or eddb ever goes away I'm in trouble.

I cried when the Codex was not Inara and eddb ingame :(

This is my #1 complaint--having to get out of the game and use some website. Why don't they just add that to the game? And the in-game galaxy map search feature is useless most of the time. Also a list of search results instead of points on a galaxy map would really help.

I'll just add that the game has improved vastly with Chapter 4. I've enjoyed mining. But there is still so much that needs to be changed.

Going to third party sites is bad.

Having not updated the manual since 2.4 even worse.

There is a plethora of information on the internet on how the game works.

Making a manual and keeping it up to date would be a waste of time as the game is constantly evolving, maybe when the game is near a complete state then make a comprehensive manual.

Correction: The game's in trouble, remember how quickly Fdev folded when the external help sites threatened to close for a day. The game is borderline unplayable without them, a player should not have to guestimate where to get an A rated jump drive ingame and I swear the trading guessathon was written by someone who's never had to pop down to Asda in their lives.

Going into Outfitting / Shipstore after a break almost gave me an aneurysm because it's the most clunky interface I've ever come across (esp when compared to this elegant page: http://www.edshipyard.com), and instantly annoying - oh I've got a module on a stored ship I want to put on the current ship, well -
Go to ships / swap ship / wait for animatics of being placed in different bay / go to outfitting / take module off current ship into storage (like three clicks) / go to ships / switch ships / wait for different bay animatics / go to outfitting / three clicks to install module from storage, inc. an 'are you sure?' button - 'course I'm [redacted] sure, just spent five minutes getting here game)...

And yea, maybe I'm stupid for not forseeing I'd need that particular module (or being able to make sense of the trading info tbh), but stupid people play games too...

Agreed the outfitting is in desperate need of an overhaul, we need a simpler method without the graphical razzmatazz maybe a 3d diagram of the ship you are working on top screen with a menu of current modules etc and another of stored to swap in and out below. Buying would be a different screen with diagrams and specs of whatever you want to buy when you buy it it goes into the stored modules list.

No animation of the ship or weapons going in and out no need as nice as it looks.

It happens. Got a couple myself a few days back for being careless. Just focusing more on shooting than paying attention to my target panel.

It's just a quick trip to a nearby Low/Anarchy to get it cleared up. Unless the target dies. Then there is a 2-hour wait.

No, it could be way better. The outfitting and transfer screens are in need of some serious QOL love.
