This place makes me wonder....

First there were a wave of threads bemoaning the lack of update from FDev, I even wrote one of them myself, then when we do get an announcement there is a rake of bickering about what was announced, whcih I suppose is typical of an internet forum. But this afternoon, I see someone has started a thread based on what they could drag out of the back of the ice planet closet?

Why so much moaning? We are kind of reaping what we sow here, if we drown every announcement in vitriol, you can understand why they will be reticent about making more announcements. But if they don't make such announcements that just cracks open another jar of vitriol. Why?
This is an ancient tradition of forums.

Traditions are what they are, they are traditions.

It was expected to still get salty bickering and doomsaying even with the announcement as FD can never win. It's been like that for many cycles down through the history of the forum.
Too many don't seem to recognize or even care if the devs and staff of Frontier have priorities and limited time & resources while they struggle to survive as an indpendent game publisher so they continue the unique vision of ED. They just became small cap, and also moved into a new building. The game is already so far ahead of the bar, yet so much that was accomplished and working as a stable game often gets taken for granted quickly or said it should have been done earlier or at the start or minor bugs or even minor perceptions are erroneously listed as game-breaking bugs get flayed over like the game was doomed, yet the steamcharts(and steamspy) numbers still show healthy activity in the game and longevity with an example of DW2 successfully launching off thousands of players in the shared galaxy. I don't think many realize the complexity of the game and the fact that other competitors have not come close with mixing the massive scope of the stellar forge with instance gameplay at any coordinate point of the entire interstellar and galactic modelling. Ironically in an impatient recent thread wanting to hear of news, I had posted, news could come next week, and then surprisingly, the news came the day after. But this has happened again and again before. Cycles of bashing the game, then a respite with a new announcment or update than vitriol and intense criticism again like the sinusoidal cycles of steamcharts. The forum seems to also serve as a salt tar pit. Some also want to stick it to FD for months or years on end like some deserved delayed punishment for FD's past "transgressions". I'd call it taking advantage of Frontier's goodwill for such an amazing product and exceptional value for the transaction costs with the customer. ED is not even monthly charged as an ongoing MMO for example. I'd been in a previous big MMO forum and it's never been as harpring on the devs and the game as this forum. Perhaps Sandro and Ed declining to continue with ED had in part something to do with this often tumultuous "feedback" place. I suspect they(FD) for now just lets it percolate all here as part of the default "community management".
